That’s why they play the game

The game’s outcome was as predictable as a Scooby-Doo plotline.
We, after all, were 13-point favorites.
We had a milestone record for consecutive wins.
We came from the stronger league.
We had the proven quarterback.
Everyone knew we were going to win easily.
Everyone except my next-door neighbor Pam.
She was the older woman in my life at the time, being 11 to my 10, but her advanced years did not necessarily bring her wisdom when it came to handicapping Super Bowls.
She overheard me extolling the superhuman qualities of the Minnesota Vikings as opposed to the laughable foibles of the Kansas City Chiefs, who were to be the Vikings’ victims on Sunday, Jan. 11, 1970 in Super Bowl IV.

very good read, like it says, great lesson for young Patriots fans :p
the quote from his dad made me want to watch the movie "Any Given Sunday" though..

The only reason it probably stings so bad for him is that the Vikings haven't won any super bowls after that. I'm sure the Pats will get there again sometime soon.
