    Rust in Week 1

So if we are rusty (Tarvaris not in synch with Berrian, etc.), maybe we made a mistake by not playing our starters more in the pre-season. I know that Berrian had that toe injury, but maybe giving Tarvaris more reps in the pre-season (he rode the pine through the entire Dallas game) might have been a good idea.

So he comes in rusty in Week 1, throwing at one point (1st half) 2 completions out of like 8 passes.

Am I wrong ? Teams these days are so afraid of injury, but that means they often come into games rusty and not in synch at all.

It would have been a bad idea to have Jackson play more in the preseason. Both him and Berrian were nursing injuries for most of the latter half of August and into September and putting out players where they could risk further injury when it is not necessary is a bad idea.

They could have been a little rusty but in noway did this determine the game or have a huge impact on it. The most important thing was we were all healthy for Monday Night. I think we could have finished the first half with more passing yards and points if not for GB's CB's mauling our WR's and the refs blindly watching it. Specifically the play that would have put us at the 20 yardline with 2:25 left in the 2nd. This would have been a great opportunity to tie it up goin in at half.

I also think that playcalling and the structure of plays was much different in the 1st half, we tried some things downfield with no luck and ran the ball OK.
Regardless of being rusty we should have one that game, Kluwes low punt killed us and the 57 yard run where EJ and Sharper were caught out of position.

The big play hurt us not rust. Take away the big play and we win that game. We need some big plays of our own. Too bad it took Chilly a whole half to open up the playbook.
