Re: Roy Williams or Holt anyone?

I would take Holt right now, as he could teach our young guys a thing about being a Wide out....To me that would be better then taking a loser from Detroit, Roy Williams is garbage just like the rest of Matt Millen's draft picks.

Holts wheels are about to come off, if we were going for youth to upgrade our team, I say Roy Williams is the logical choice. All he needs is to be put on a team with a winning attitude. Roy is a beast over the middle, and makes the tough catches in traffic. Tory injury prone and fragile is on the decline, while Roy still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

    LIONS’ WILLIAMS ON THE MARKET?

    http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/26/lions-williams-on-the-market/

Despite an 0-3 start and a little thing called the salary cap that prevents them from paying top dollar to two elite wideouts, the Lions claim that they don’t plan to trade receiver Roy Williams.

On Thursday, new G.M. Martin “I’m Sad My Longtime Friend And Boss Got Fired But I’m Happy I Got His Job” Mayhew announced the team’s intentions, but at the same time indicated that he would listen to any offers.
Yeah, I guess I'm going to be, "that guy," looking at picking up another player just cuz he may be available, but...

Last year we saw Chris Chambers go for a second, kind of looking like a steal right now.
I still feel we could us an upgrade at WR...I mean, BB is a decent downfield threat, Rice is a good endzone target, Wade is great in the slot, but they all seem too be designated role players, and we don't really have a true, do it all, No.1 type of guy.
I'm not wanting to guess who would have to go to make room, but I'm wondering what they would consider...?
Looks like the trade deadline is Oct 14 this year...

With Dtown in the D toilet, their GM ousted, and their team looking to go nowhere but up...I'm betting we could come up with a multiple, conditional picks deal that could work for both teams while still leaving us with some good future picks.

First, we need to be able to agree on a contract extension.
Then, Perhaps, off the top of my head, we're looking at two picks over two years...one in the 09 draft and one the year after.
Both are conditional depending on performance.
    Next year a 2,3, or 4 and the following year, a 3,4, or 5.
Say a second this year if he betters last year's totals:
64+ receptions, 5+ TDs, and 840+ yards, a 3rd if its close, and a fourth if he's under 40 receptions, 3 TDs, and 500 yards.
Next year's pick, similar deal, based on improving this year's numbers next year...?

IF he gets over 800 yards and 5 TDs this year, and goes over 1000 yards and 10 TDs next, wouldn't he be worth a 2nd in 09 and a 3rd in 2010?
For a former first round pick...?

All right, let the pooh fly into the fan!
    Whatdoya say?
    ;D

Re: Roy Williams or Holt anyone?

    Wow.
    Again? ???
As a matter of fact, I did search, no matches for Roy Williams.

I also scanned the nfl pages thinking it would be there since he's not a Viking...guess there's a bit of a grey area there.

Frankly, I don't even want to talk about Holt.
Too far gone, too many injuries...and likely just as expensive!
Roy fits the mold the TOA likes to sign, established enough to trade for, yet young enough to still improve and shine given a better chance in the right system (not necessarily our current one-we'll see ).
Plus, seems he's a better combo of size/speed, and built a bit better to make the tough across the middle catches too.

What I was trying to assess, was not just the interest, but the worth.
Now that the poll's gone, will anyone get around to voting?

    I mean seriously.
Does anyone else around here think ultra goes a little overboard on his enforcing of the rules...perhaps, sometimes, a bit too quick to react ???
    How about a poll?

I just can't seem to shake thinking of an old saying...something about coal going in and diamonds coming out...
    No offense intended!
But jeez man, lighten up a bit will ya!!

Aaaah, it seemed I was getting random results there...sometimes a big list and others nothing.
    Thanks!

I searched for "Roy" and it worked just fine.

Make sure you refine your search.
Maybe choose 0-5 days in order to not get too many results.

In Roys only full season he had over 1300 yards and for his career he is averaging 15 yards per catch
