Vikings.com reports the Minnesota Vikings have placed CB Devonte Edwards (arm) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2006 season.

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006 by Kevin Seifert The Vikings began a busy day by announcing their acqusition of WR Todd Pinkston (see below). To make room for him on the roster, they placed cornerback Dovonte Edwards on injured reserve.

Edwards broke his arm in Thursday night’s preseason finale at Dallas. He is expected to undergo surgery and would have missed at least six weeks. The Vikings, unwilling to carry
him on the active roster that long, ended his season with the move.

Edwards had started the Dallas game in place of the injured Fred Smoot, and he figured to be the team’s nickel defensive back in the season opener at Washington. For now, the next cornerback on the depth chart is Cedric Griffin.

In other news, Strib staffer Judd Zulgad reports that two veteran offensive linemen will be among the players leaving the team today: guard/tackle Adam Goldberg and guard Chris Liwienski. Both players were starters as recently as last season, but they did not appear to fit into the new regime’s plans.

I thought Edwards was only supposed to be out for something like 6 weeks.

THe rest I can see, but Since we lost Tank, I thought we would keep offord for sure.

Please tell me thats a misprint on Willie Offord...
