Rookie receivers slow to catch on
This is an article by Len Pasquarelli on rookie wide receivers. It's a long article, so I'm just posting the link.
Dis is for all youse guys dat tink dat Troy Williamson is a bust. I say, dat's what you tink! Youse guys don't know what you're talkin' 'bout!

Re: Rookie receivers slow to catch on
TWill is doing just fine...and he hasn't even hit his stride...his numbers will INCREASE in the second half of this season...both as he becomes more comfortable out there and because we will be playing easier teams. Also, he already has a rapport with Brad Johnson, which will become increasingly important as the season wears on...simply because BJ already has a certain level of trust in TWill...and that will give TWill more opportunities to make catches.
It's hard when the standard is this:
"Randy Moss is the lone first-rounder since '90 to have more than 50 catches, at least 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns in his first season in the league."
Especially since Moss did it with the Vikings!
ALSO:
Excerpted from the same article:
In fact, of the six wide receivers chosen in the first round of this year's draft, just one -- Matt Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars -- owns statistics that project out to the average numbers for a rookie pass catcher. And Jones, the leading receiver among all rookie wideouts, with 24 catches, is a converted college quarterback..."Because I played quarterback [at Arkansas], I was accustomed to a lot of [terminology]," Jones said. "But then they hand you your first NFL playbook and it's like nothing you have ever had to learn before. It's like trying to learn another language overnight. And that isn't even accounting for the physical [elements] of the game. Everyone wants to be as good as they can be, as fast as they can be, but it doesn't always happen that way."
Although I am very happy with TWill's performance, can I still begin to gloat a little and start my "I told you so's" yet??? LOL!!!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Rookie receivers slow to catch on
I dont see that many haters that bring that much validity to their points on here. The only real haters are people who were on Moss' jock so they jump at DC and TWill whenever they get the chance and dont even pull for them to do well because they would rather be right than win and eat a little crow.

Re: Rookie receivers slow to catch on
troy is probley doing the best of the wr rookie class this year, and he hasnt done very much. matt jones is also doing well, he does have a 100 yard game.
We're bringing purple back.

Re: Rookie receivers slow to catch on
im tired of posts about williamson and how he's not doing that great. how good did burleson do his rookie year? pretty good but not great, moss was great cause he had carter getting all the attention his rookie year. williamson has gotten awful passes thrown to him, if people pay attention to the game they will also notice this. he tends to get grabbed a lot and pushed off his route too he needs to get better at his route running and he will be much better next year.
I don t buy Wisconsin cheese.
