Re: Rookie Randy Moss or Rookie AD.

Hi new to the website and just wanted to say i love the site, but id have to go with moss without a doubt. He changed Defence's around the league remember how many DB's were drafted by our division to stop him.

Re: Rookie Randy Moss or Rookie AD.

Moss had a better rookie season, but I'm enjoying watching AD... I mean, a catch can be awesome, but a great run can be completely breathtaking. I love watching videos of AD juke the Bears' defenders right out of their trunks. I love hearing Sean Merriman say, "You could have told us where he was going and we couldn't have stopped him..."

So, right now... I'd take AD, all day.

Imho the Vikes 07 were more dependable of AD than the Vikes 98 were of Pull out ,Randy Moss.I d say AD for a slim margin.Good thread btw....

Re: Rookie Randy Moss or Rookie AD.

For the 2007 Vikings I would pick AD.
I think he impacted our year more than Randy would have with this team.

If we are comparing their rookie performances and who had the best rookie year, then I would put Moss in as the bigger impact.
With the team we had during Moss' rookie year, his talent was better served to impact our year than AD's would have been in that year.

If you take the situational aspects out of the equation and create an imaginary team with no real strengths or weaknesses and I get to choose one of them I would go with AD.
    But I'm a RB snob.

There's no way of answering that fairly until you clarify what you mean by "your team".

Do you mean any team we care to assemble using any player from any team? Do you mean using current players or can we use players that no longer play the game?

I could easily go for having Jerry Rice & AD on my team as I could LT & Moss.
Where does it say your team?

My co-worker and I were talking about this if you could choose one or the other to have on the team which one would you choose. Man that is tough for me.
Without AD we would still have Taylor. A step down soemwhat but CT is a different style of RB. And having a player like Moss focuses the Defense on the passing game and less on the runs so CT could have a great year.
He obviously means this current team since he talks about Chester Taylor!

    Yes, not Moss.

You can build a franchise around a great running back, you can't do that with a receiver unless you have someone getting him the ball as well.
If it's supposed to be "YOUR TEAM" , couldn't you choose any QB you want?
He said "the team." To me that would mean current especially since he mentions Taylor.

I would go with Moss. Only because I think Taylor is a great back.

Re: Rookie Randy Moss or Rookie AD.

    Wow.
Tough Choice talent wise, but add in what we know so far about their characters (AP looks about perfect right now, and Moss has moments of real good and real bad) and consider who is better for your team long term, and I have to go with AP.

On the other hand, I believe that right now, at this moment in time, our offense would be much more powerful with Moss.
Assuming we have a rookie Moss instead of a rookie AP, we resign Mewelde Moore as the third down back and feature Chester Taylor.
Moss, Berrian, Rice, Wade, Allison would be one hell of a WR corps!!!
And, if we felt like we needed more depth at RB, we could sign Ron Dayne or Sean Alexander as more bruiser types, or Kevin Jones as a more slasher type.

All in all, Dang you for making me choose, But Thanks for the interesting offseason discussion!!

Re: Rookie Randy Moss or Rookie AD.

This really is a difficult question.
I would have to go with Moss and here's why.
Moss took the Vikings from an average team that made the playoffs to a powerhoue team.
How many of you think the Vikings would have went 15-1 without Moss that year.
    Then look at last year.
We may not have gone 8-8 but it wouldn't be that much different without AP.

I'm not putting down AP by any means.
However, when you look at their rookie seasons that is what I have to say.
Of course Moss had BJ in his prime and Cunningham throwing him the ball.
AP had 8 and 9 men stacked in the box because we had an inexperienced QB last year.
All points need to be considered.
