Thread: Road to the playoffs

The Vikings are seeded 8th as of now (with Week 12 done for NFC playoff purposes).

2. Bears (8-3)
   Panthers (8-3)
4. Cowboys (7-4)
   Giants (7-4)
   Bucs (7-4)
   Falcons (7-4)
8. Vikings (6-5)

(tie-breakers not factored in)

To get to the playoffs we need to get past at least two of those teams.

If we get a wild card, we want to be the 5-seed, so we play the weakest division winner, and then, best case scenario, avoid the top seed until the NFC championship game.

If the Vikings win out, and the Bears drop one between now and Week 17 the Vikings will have a shot to beat the Bears to win the division. To avoid other tiebreakers, the Bears would have to lose one to the Packers. That would give the Vikings an edge in the divisional record if they beat the Bears in Week 17.

Let's be realistic. The Vikings are only on the edge of playoff contention as it is. A letdown would be a great waste. To stay in the playoff hunt, the Vikes have to win and get help from other teams.

The road to the playoffs looks tough, but possible----maybe.

If the Vikings win out and the Bears lose a DIVISION game then the last game will be for the division crown ...
Getting the Wild Card has been talked about ad nauseum in here and we all know we lose the tie-breakers with Bucs, Falcons and Panthers, so we actually have to finish A GAME UP on one of them, but we win a tie with the Giants.
By the way, your seeding is off ... the Bears are No.2, the Panthers are No. 3 and the Cowboys are No. 4 straight up due to tie-breakers ... the Giants are No. 5 and the Bucs right now sit at No. 6.
It will be a long road to hoe, but if keep winning we will be in good shape. If we can steal the Steelers game we could just win out and make a run at that No. 2 seed ... seriously ... no joke!!

Giants play Cowboys next week.. So one of them will get a lose!

One game at a time, one game at a time .... First, these Vikes have to break tradition of giving away "easy" game late in the season to divisional foes .... i.e. De-Toilet next week .... one at a time.

If you look at the schedules out there, the Bucs Falcons and Giants could stumble to 9-7 realistically and give us a shot at getting in as the No. 5 if we get to 10-6.

Another thing is the panthers and falcons play each other 2 times in last 5 weeks of the season so 1 of them will be out of the playoof picture if we keep winning

No doubt, but the Lions are the one "easy" game we always win late while losing all the others.

After the St.Louis game our schedule will get kind of tough though so we have to step up and eveybody has to play very very good games. We have 2 play mistake free football

If we win out, the rest will take care of itself!
