Let the games begin! Here's hoping for a tie, smothered in an Aaron Rodgers' shame fest, and a Brett Favre/Jets victory! :-*

Re: RF365: 3 Reasons the Vikings Won't Win
He's right in some cases, but the last sentence got me. Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but the way it's written, it's almost like he's 100% positive we're going to crash and burn. Other than that it was alright. He brought up some nice positives before that, including mentioning Tjack's upside. That was cool. Don't hear that very often. Outside of PPO, at least.
WE CAN BUILD ON THIS!!!

Re: RF365: 3 Reasons the Vikings Won't Win
If those are only reasons he gives for a failed season it isn't much. Alot of people are down on several of our very young players. Our team was basically rookies last season and we still managed 50/50 and we are only gonna get better. Cook and Griffith essentially had there rookie seasons last year with alot of other young players. Not only will our team be better this season but it will continue to get better for several seasons in a row.

Re: RF365: 3 Reasons the Vikings Won't Win
A very interesting read my friend.
Thanks.....
If we had 13 like the Cowgirls do then I bet we would garner even more interest from the national sports hacks. They're a team loaded with Pro Bowl talent that most national scribes have dubbed a Super Bowl contender if Tarvaris Jackson can carry his own water at the quarterback position. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I actually don't disagree with any of his reasons.
We have deficiencies in OT, little depth outside WR, and Childress has not shown the ability to make decent half time adjustments.
I do think that we are much improved over last year, and I expect us to make the playoffs, but not the super bowl this season.
(I am pulling for a superbowl birth in the 2010 season.
I really want to see the new Cowboys stadium... ;D)Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: RF365: 3 Reasons the Vikings Won't Win
Well, he does bring up some interesting issues...How Hicks plays in Mac's absence will tell us a lot about our season.
Already missing Farwell, Mitchell, and Madieu is not helping!
We really, really need Tyrell to play well as a rookie and both he and Sharper to stay healthy!
We can't afford any more injuries at LDE either!
Or Ol.
Well, or anywhere for that matter.
I'm also a bit concerned about BB's turf toe...without him we look a lot like last year's WR core...albeit with one more year experience for Rice and Allison.
Along those same lines, I expect Cook, AP, Griffin, etc to all be better with the experience gained...and that especially includes Childress and the options that should start becoming more available from the playbook!Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

Re: RF365: 3 Reasons the Vikings Won't Win
I just read a guy the other day saying how the right side of our line is so good, and underrated. Let's not forget that we still have one of the biggest, more feared O-lines in football.
I do think that we have some issues at coaching. Football is about making constant adjustments, and I think we are too slow in this regard. Example: the last four games of last year. The box is stacked, and we can't throw a simple flare or screen to a running back. Childress sort of reminds me of George Bush: "I am the decider and I decided we would do this, so now let's just keep doing it until it works". Kind of inflexible and stubborn. I would not call it ego, but rather, stubbornness.
I do think that one major area for this club is our QB and can he be accurate enough.
The strengths are all around the LOS and I personally think that we can just wear teams out there.
So what we need is the following:
a. Win the LOS and wear teams out
b. Adjust and be more creative with offensive playcalling
c. QB must be accurate and not make dumb mistakes
We do those three and we are good...
