Notice this news didn't come out before the Vikings played the Giants. A little roughing the punter might have been in order.

    It's two fold.

People like to say that the game was harder back in the day, to an extent it is true. That being said it was a lot slower, played on grass, the players were not as strong.

It's hard to even compare the era's let alone the positions.

I wish they could have modern records but they can't. It's up to the fans to keep the history fresh on everyone's mind.

Passing records that have been broken this era are not even close to as impressive as the ones set by the old timers. The game has evolved, and it makes a lot of records attainable.

Sucks but it is what it is. Cudos to Feagle for staying intact for so many games. Cudos to Jim for setting the bar so damn high that only a punter has reached it.

One thing to consider is the turnover that punters face in the NFL. This record, for a punter, is less about lasting without injury (which isn't TOO hard when the other team is hardly able to touch you) and more about being able to withstand the urge of head coaches to pass on the older guy and go with someone young and fresh. I think that says a lot about his talent.

That being said, it's still kid of a crock. But, alas, a record is a record.

:sunny: Wow, that's one of the most intelligent comments I've ever seen posted on a message board.
