Re: The real reason were not in the playoffs all started in 2000.....

The time is now look to the future not the past, Gee I wish I had that steak sandwhich back in the day it's day at that restaurant with the fires over the onion rings that gave me serious heartburn.

I know our off-season started waaay to early. Can't we get past the Superbowl before we blame current state on past movements the organization did or din't make?

During the 2000 draft i dont kno what our orgainzation was thinking i mean come on how did we pass up on Tom Brady. Look at what he is doing now and we decided to take Chris Hovan with that 25 overall pick. I mean enough of we should trade for Fitz or we should have sign Plax to replace Moss the real reason we have issues at quarterback is that we let Brady drop to the 6th round. I mean i dont understand what they were thinking
    lol, you can't be serious.
Hovan had a good career here in Minnesota, and was credited as one of the big factors in the Buccs return to great Defense a couple years back when they finished #1 in the league.

"We let him drop to the 6th round"
"I mean i dont understand what they were thinking"

rofl, they were thinking was the other 31 teams were also.
He wasn't that good of a quarterback coming straight out of the draft, or at least didn't show it.
"We" Didnt let him drop that far, if had any signs of becoming the quarterback he is today, he would have been drafted #1 overall.
He was picked #199 overall in the draft.
That means that 32 teams thought 198 players were more valuable at the time.
If you think that us not drafting him has anything to do with us not being in the playoffs, you need to maybe find a different sport lol

Besides, who knows if Tom Brady would even be the quarterback that he is now if he had been drafted by a different team.
Remember this interesting little fact, Tom Brady got his chance to be the starting quarterback when Drew Beldsoe went down hurt in New England.
A few years later, Bledsoe, now the quarterback for Dallas, once again goes down injured, and a young kid by the name of Tony Romo, who was picked up as an undrafted free agent, gets his chance to start.
I for one dont really think thats much of a coincidense

And besides, "the reason we're having problems at quarterback" also might have something to do with us having a falling out with Culpepper, who dropped significantly in performance after the departure of Moss, then having an old Brad Johnson take the helm of the ship.
And now a D-II quarterback leading our team with no decent back up, and no proven recievers.

Or maybe its cuz we didn't draft Brady.
I GOT IT!!!! All we have to do next year is in the offseason, sign drew Bledsoe.. to be the unquestioned starter, for a year or two.. draft a QB in the 6th (Tom Brady) or undrafted (Tony Romo) and when drew get's hurt or plays like crap, put the new guy in..

and he'll automatically be the next superstar....

That's too much of a coincidence to pass that up.... hey TJ may even be really good then...

I say let's do it... Drew might actually be able to pass to the receivers we have... can't move around in the pocket for sh!* tho...
lol, i wasn't saying "Drew Bledsoe develops superstars!" basically what the Brady & Romo examples prove, is that you don't always need to draft high to have a good quarterback (most of the high round quarterbacks havnt been playing well anyways, granted they almost always go to bad teams
    :P).
What often is the better bet, is drafting or otherwise signing a young quarterback to ride the bench for a little bit and learn behind a proven veteran.
A lot of young players have all the talent to be good, just need someone to teach them the ropes before they can hit that level.

Which is actually what was the plan for Tavaris, he wasn't intended to be the starter right out the gate, but Brad Johnson fell through and after that he was thrown in above his head.
He has the physical talent, just needs the know-how
