Raonnal smith out of a job?

    • Backup linebacker. With a strong showing on defense and special teams, Rod Davis pulled ahead of Raonall Smith for the final linebacker spot.

Is Tice thinking about *gulp* cutting Smith?

Re: Raonnal smith out of a job?

    • Left guard. Tice called the competition between Adam Goldberg and Marcus Johnson "wide open" after Goldberg struggled and Johnson played "OK." Tice will give them another chance in this week's game at the New York Jets before considering other options.

"I know one thing," Tice said. "We can't win with our left guard situation the way it is now."

    • Backup center. With starter Matt Birk set to practice full-time this week, Tice said second-year player Anthony Herrera is challenging veteran Cory Withrow to be the backup. Withrow played "horrible," Tice said.

    • Backup linebacker. With a strong showing on defense and special teams, Rod Davis pulled ahead of Raonall Smith for the final linebacker spot.

    • Rookie receiver Troy Williamson worked out Saturday but reported soreness in his right ankle, and Tice said Williamson probably won't practice today when training camp resumes at Minnesota State, Mankato. "Maybe Monday," Tice said.

    • Receiver Kelly Campbell aggravated his strained right quadriceps during pregame warmups Friday, and the date of his return is unknown. "Kelly better hurry up and get healthy," Tice said.

    • Linebacker Napoleon Harris missed an early assignment on a 21-yard run by the Chiefs' Priest Holmes. Overall, however, Tice said Harris "played pretty well" on Friday.

    • Birk (hip), cornerback Fred Smoot (knee contusion) and center Kyle Schmitt (knee) are expected to practice today.

I thought Rod Davis got cut a couple months ago. Did they resign him or something?

I like Smith, I do, but if Davis is playing better than him then by all means play Davis instead of Smith!! I have full confidence in Tice's decisions.

Don't cut Raonall! I wanted him to start last year above EJ (yes, I know I was stupid)

I agree. I want to keep hm just for the sake of special teams. He is a decent backup also.
