QB Rotation for Monday Night Game

    Childress sets QB rotation
Sunday, August 13th, 2006 by Judd Zulgad

Here is how coach Brad Childress plans to break down the playing time among his quarterbacks in Monday night’s game against Oakland:

Brad Johnson will start and play the first quarter.

Mike McMahon will play a portion of the second quarter.

Tarvaris Jackson will finish the second quarter and play the third.

J.T. O’Sullivan will play the fourth quarter.

Safety Tank Williams (kneecap) and cornerback Charles Gordon (knee) are the only two players who are out for the game.

Re: QB Rotation for Monday Night Game

"As far as the starters, starters will play one quarter. And that could be most of the first quarter if I feel like they've had enough with the series or two series. Again, that's up to my discretion. But the plan is for a quarter. The second quarterback in the game will be Mike McMahon, and he will play a portion of the second quarter. Followed by Tarvaris Jackson to finish the second quarter, and he will play the third quarter. And J.T. O'Sullivan will play the fourth quarter. Then the appropriate personnel will follow those guys. I've got boxes checked for who's going to play when. Everything is subject to change based on somebody getting hurt running down on the first kickoff or the first kickoff return, so you've got to be able to be flexible. Obviously, all that is up to change."
Quote from todays interview with Childress

Does this possibly mean that T-Jack has moved up on JT O'Sullivan in the depth chart?
Or does childress just want him to play against a little tought competition?

I'm pumped to see this guy play!

Brad Childress has that Andy Reid/Mike Holmgrin type look to him dosnt he? I really like that he strips the game down to the littlest aspect, and trains to be perfect at each and every one.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

Looks like we're gonna have plenty of time to see TJ. I'm excited about seeing what he does in the game, especially with the second team line in front of him which may rush his throws some.

I am psyched to see Tarvarius play.
We took him so high that I want to see him soon.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said the team's quarterback rotation for Monday, Aug. 14, will include plenty of action for rookie QB Tarvaris Jackson. QB Mike McMahon will be the second quarterback in the game after QB Brad Johnson, but Childress said he McMahon will only play a portion of the second quarter. Jackson will finish the second quarter and play all of the third period before yielding to QB J.T. O'Sullivan. Jackson wasn't available for comment after Childress announced his playing rotation, but he said on Saturday, Aug. 12, that he was excited to get his first NFL action.
