Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/113634-pulling-the-plug-life-without-pat-williams
As most people know, Pat and Kevin Williams are still subject to suspensions at the begging of next season, but that is not what this article is about. We are talking about the big fellow hanging up the cleats.
The Vikings have him under contract for a few more years, but he is 36 years old! Everybody has to hang it up sometime, and it will be no different for Pat Williams. If the few games the Vikings played without him are any indication as to what will come, they need to begin looking for a replacement soon...
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
I've been waiting for the downside of his career to come but he's still an absolute beast at 36. One would think that weighing over 300 pounds and running around nearly daily would take it's toll on your knees and back.
Hopefully Pat can tough it out until he's 45-50. ;D
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
Hopefully he can chug out a few more years of solid play while we find an heir to his run-stuffing throne (I think that just sounds better than "replacement"). Plus it's just a lot more fun to watch when he's out there.
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
I wouldn't be against picking up a DT in the 1st round but only if we get an OT in FA.

I thought Pat was only 34.... 36 really brings a urgency to prepping a replacement.I agree with marstc, picking a young heir to Pats domain in the draft would be a possibility, leaving FA to address other needs, sure would like to get a look at the guys cheatsheets at WinterPark, as we may be wheelin' and dealin' some
in FA after March 1., setting the table for the draft.
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
I would love to get Vince Wilfork...although I don't think it will happen.
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
Thats a wierd article, first off Fred Evans is a Free Agent, I'm not sure if he is a restricted or unrestricted but none the less not under contract. Letroy Guion is a 5th round draft choice not a 6th.
I am intristed in all future prospects but I'm not sure why he has Luis Castillo listed at the bottom.
I didn't think Pat was signed for anymore than just next year but it could be two, with the closer we get to being real contenders Pat can smell the ring, I think he hangs in there as long as he can. Not to mention we limit his snaps and don't work him like a young buc in training camp.
Re: Pulling The Plug - Life Without Pat Williams
I think Pat will play strong a few more years ... he wants the ring and I think he knows he's close to getting it and happy here ... we need to get him a ring ....

Where do you suggest we trade him to so he can get it?

How do go about being a fan with such negativity? If I was as negative as you I wouldn't even be here, it wouldn't even be fun. My whole out look would be a negative view of the future. How do you do it?
