Okay, back into the swing of the roster projection here.
Thus far we've filled 9 roster spots out of our 53.
Here's who's in so far....

Excellent read my friend.
Thanks.
I agree with everything this man wrote with one exception......

For now, I think I'm going to keep six receivers on board. .
My gut feeling is that if they make an exception and keep an additional guy at any position it will be OL and not WR.
I look for them to go with 5 WR and our boy Jaymar will wind up on the practice squad.

Great read.
I really like that dude's analysis.
I really hope somehow (not necessarily at the expense of Fergy) Jaymar makes the team.
He is the last (besides the possible 7th rounder from the Erasmus trade) link to our Randy trade and 2005 1st round draft.

i rly wouldnt mind ferg getting cut if one of the young rookie WRs steps up big during workouts
Re: Projecting the Vikings' 53-Man Roster: WR's
Good read.
Think Gonzo has it pretty straight. If one of the new guys really impresses and they do decide to keep the WR depth at 5, thats where things could get a little tough.
AA and Fergie will be tough to choose between primarily because of what each brings to the team vs. what the newcomer would bring (ie., more likely closer to AA than Fergie type skills).
If Jaymar or Reynaud are the two most likely candidates to compete for a roster spot, then do you still keep AA and have essentially the same skillset at your #4 and #5 depth position?

Think that sounds just about right. I would like to see Jaymar on the squad if we are still struggling in the return game, but if we don't need him for those purposes he will be relegated to the practice squad.

A couple of nice reads there!
I like the KSTP one on Rice he's got linked too.
I'm hoping for big things from Sid the Kid next year...especially after watching those highlights on youtube the other day!
Kid's got pop!
Dang, he's like 4 feet over that puker's head on that one.
Here that is again if you missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSZui599VfI&eurl=http://www.purplepride.org/forums/index.php?topic=45135.190;topicseen

I think we'll see them find a way to keep a C prospect active this year...which should be a hell of a battle with 4 of them in camp including Birk.
I expect that this guy will also be relied on for OG depth too...depending on what happens with McKinnie, and who else they feel can backup 2 positions there, it may be a shift along the OL depth alone.
Given that, it would be hard, but I can still see a slight possibility of keeping 6 WRs too.
We've got a lot of unproven youth there, and it has been a considerable weakness for years.
We're pretty big on our top 5, and they each fill a role...so it'd be hard to part with any of them, but Jaymar's quick feet are pretty intriging, and its always good to have depth at KR/PR cuz those guys get hit hard!
For that same reason, I like Reynaud, but that sore hammy isn't going to help him make the cut...might help him make it to our PS though.
Nate Jones is a bit underrated too...that's a lot of receptions taking Sweed's spot.

Then we jettison Ferg next year an bring Jaymar up.
AA and Rice are seasoned Vets with B-wade and BB.
Would be a nice set of recievers going into 2009 season.

Can't other teams sign players off another teams practice squad as long as they sign them to their active roster?
Or something along those lines?
If that is the case than I can't imagine them sending Jaymar to the practice squad.
