The problem this year WAS NOT Tice or the coaches
It was our cheap, used car salesman owner, RED MCCOMBS! He was the idiot who decided not to invest in a kicker. He could have had a very good kicker in Paul Edinger, but he decided to go with Aaron Elling. Of course, this move comes back to haunt us in 3 (maybey 4) crucial games this season. The Raiders game, the Bears game, the Cardinals game, and the Pack game in the dome counts if we missed any FG's that game (cant remember [
]). If we could kick field goals, we would have won all 4 of those games, and been 13-3, and have home field advantage in the playoffs, along with being NFC North champions. BUT, we didn't invest in a quality kicker, and lost all of those games. Result-9-7, and no playoff berth, and the Packers take the NFC North.
Now, all the Tice haters are going to blame these losses on bad play calling. Let me tell you, none of that would matter if the coaches had a dependable kicker. We would have won all of those games. And, there play calling would have been affected by having a quality kicker. Nobody would be crying "fire the whole coaching staff" if we had a kicker. But, we didn't. All because of our kicker. Tice did not decide not to invest in a quality kicker. That was McComb's choice. So, you cry "fire tice and the rest of the staff" because we didn't make the playoffs? You should be crying "get a kicker and hope for a new owner". Our owner is why we are not in the playoffs.
Also, take a look at every playoff team. They all have dependable kickers. That is where we stand apart from the teams of the playoffs. Our kicker sucks. Face it. If we had a kicker, we would be on the fast track to the super bowl right now. But, we're not. All because of the kicking game.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Elling for not being in the playoffs. I am blaming our cheap, used car salesman owner, Red McCombs. He is why we are not in the playoffs. Not Tice.
Think about it.

Have you ever seen a race of turtles, and they all go the wrong way instead of towards the finish line?
Welcome to the NFC North.
