Meh. There were plenty of better catches in that game by Line, Patterson, etc. The only reason that or the block got any talk is because it was Webb.

Keep Webb as 3rd string QB and a WR, freeing up a roster spot. If we have to go that deep we'd be sunk with Bethel-Thomas-Hossenpheffer-Incorporated anyway.

PS: Why sit Ponder after an INT? Gotta be a confidence killer.
I've been a Viking fan since I was just out of diapers, hopefully we get Super Bowl win before I go back in 'em.

I know everyone is down on Cassell but I really don't believe a lot of what went on in KC was his fault.
You had a Brooding WR over a contract... a TE that couldn't stay healthy. A horrible OL and A defense that showed up when it wanted to.
Did I mention that your star RB tore his ACL.

I think at this point Cassell could lead this team to a Superbowl in a game manager role.
I think Ponder may have more upside and that is why he will continue to play.
While I am not confident he will reach that upside, I understand why management is playing him.

    I think that is it.

Cassell was a good edition, whether it ends up as a backup role or a starter. Ponder will have a much shorter leash with a known entity ready to go.

    +1

Cassell is an upgrade from Webb as a QB and I think he can replace Ponder and there won't be a drop in play at the position and I hope the leash is short.

The one thing about Frazier is he will stick to his plan, one set for the starters was what he said and he stuck to it. Now I hope he doesn't act like Childress by sticking with Ponder cause he is my starter but has more of a view that our starter has to due this to do the job and if that isn't being done than make the change....really don't want to hear turnovers aren't Christian's fault there are many mistakes being made when it was Ponder that threw late across his body and across the field off the wrong foot again.

agree 100%, all we need is a game manager, we've got the other pieces in place to win, we just need a qb that won't screw it up.
    None

Cassell seems to have a stronger arm than Ponder too, or maybe that's just how I see it. Cassell was a good signing, clearly an upgrade, but I think Ponder will remain the starter and his leash won't be as short as everybody thinks it will be unfortunately.

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

Rewatching the game, I was fairly happy with Cassel's performance. He had some rough patches, like that horrible duck that he threw for the INT, but overall I thought he had a good game, and this was with the backups.

I was frustrated with the inability for us to punch it in on 1st and goal from the 2, but then again we didn't have AD in the game, so I think that would have gone a little different in regular season.

I think that Cassel could take our team into the playoffs. And I think that Ponder will have a short leash - however, I also think that he will play just good enough not to get benched. With Ponder I think we are an 8-8 or 9-7 team, which is about the same team we were last year (yes, I know we were 10-6 last year, but I believe we overachieved). With Cassel I think we could be a 10-6 or 11-5 team.

I agree. I just think we need either Ponder or Cassell, or the combination to play just well enough and to not screw up too many times for this team to succeed. It's going to come down to our defense playing well and our o line pushing forward for another 2000+ rushing yards (not necessarily all AD).
