Premise: Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave is sending tells to the defense with his play selection.
Ponder passes: 0
Peterson runs: 165 for 1,366 yards and an 8.3 YPC
Ponder passes: 288 attempts for 1,747 yards 62.8% 6.07 YPA
Peterson runs: 12 for 42 yards and a 3.5 YPC
Lone setback formation:
Ponder passes: 287 attempts for 1,611 yards 59.9% 5.61YPA
Peterson runs: 118 for 432 and a 3.7 YPC
Peterson was a beast with many big runs from the I, but isn't having no passes attempted a tell? Ponder does have four runs from the I, so those plays may have been called as passes or perhaps were just broken plays or fumbles of the snap or handoff.
I believe we went shotgun on 98% of all 3rd downs (or some ridiculous ratio like that) last year, and that's typically a passing down, but it wouldn't surprise me. We're so vanilla on offense I can't believe we would be fooling anyone. Plus Ponder is horrible at selling the PA. It's crazy how you can have a back like AD and not eat defenses alive with PA.
