If you get an UFA receiver, you retain both first round picks and should end up with three very good players instead of two.
Why end up with two very good players when you can have three ?
A little mixup bolded in the quote, but I know what you mean.

I'm on board with you to a degree. Some RFAs I'm fine with. Like Danario Alexander and Emmanuel Sanders. Alexander was undrafted, so no pick would be lost. Sanders would cost a 3rd, I'm on the fence about that.

I don't want to see the first rounder acquired for Harvin given up for another wide receiver.

It will be interesting to see who they bring back. One would think with the success of the running game that you would want to keep your starting RT in place, but with the Vikings you never know. These days its all about the price tag attached to the player with this team. Would Ellison be a better or even the same option as Felton? He could be, but he also might not be, but the Vikings are looking at his modest salary hard I am sure.

I would think that they almost have to bring back at least one of their LB's. I have no clue what they are going to do, they have been really good at keeping their plans close to the nest lately. Not much leaks out from Winter Park these days.

Thanks for the edit. I went back and fixed it.
I would be ok with those UFA as well. I will be surprised if Spielman brings in any high priced free agents. He loves to let the market settle then pick through the left overs.

Sources: John Carlson agrees to new deal, giving Vikings cap relief | 1500 ESPN Twin Cities ? Minnesota Sports News & Opinion (Twins, Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Gophers) | Sportswire: Minnesota Vikings

They don't give details on what his new contract looks like, but apparently it reduces the cap hit for this year by at least $1M.

I will give a crack at predicting the Vikings free agent signings. How about any player that is second rate, is cheap, and won't make a bit of difference?

    What do I win?

Sounds like things are progressing nicely on the #Vikings talks with FB Jerome Felton.

Best news of the day. I was shitting myself when I heard that Spielman told Ellison to prepare to start at FB next year. I hope the Bodyguard is a Viking for life. I thought this was gonna be the Tony Richardson nightmare all over again

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.
