Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
Another heart-attack inducing nail-biter. But, a win is a win and it feels good. It's nice to go into the bye with a win no matter what the circumstances.
The defense won this game for us. I'm very happy to see us with such a monsterous D again because of course...defense wins champoinships. But...
The offense sputtered again most of the game. The exception...Chester looked great. Our WR's looked mediocre once again. Brad played his usual game (I'm not giving up on him like some others around here) which was a safe one, but admittedly he did have some poor throws. All in all, other than the INT (which was mainly due to him getting hit right as he released the ball) his stats were about the same as always and I'm fine with that.
Special teams were on par with what we've seen all season so far. Of course the blocked PAT was disgusting to see. And too bad about the Mewelde fumble, but that usually doesn't happen so it doesn't worry me greatly. He's normally pretty sure-handed. I still would like to see him used more on offense. And although some others may disagree, I'm glad we're using Williamson on kick-off returns. That seems to be where he shines. He hasn't proved much as a WR so far so I believe we should use him where he helps us.
All in all, we still have room for improvement on offense, but without a true #1 WR (or until someone steps it up...ahem...Troy Williamson), I think it's going to be a long road on the offensive side of the ballEven babies know the difference.

Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
If Childress would not try to rein us in so much, we'd be quarters like the 4th a lot more frequently. I think BC learned something today that rather than going for the 8-15 yarders only in the final 2:00, but go for them more often, like an entire quarter, good things can and will happen. I feel like our WR and QB are being constrained and if BC gives them more of an impact, combined with Taylor's hard running, 20 pt. quarters will start happening more.

Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
yes, great job goes out to our d.
the offense worked well most of the time, but just couldn't seem to put td's on the board.
too many turnovers and key penalties at very bad times.
the offense is producing decent yardage but just not generating the points and plays inconsistantly.
special teams needs some work it looks like in some areas.
all in all, i'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
helluva 4th qtr comeback!

Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
We won and I thank the defense for saving the day for us!
The play calling sucked!
4th quarter we are down by 1 point we have 3rd and 1 and we throw a bomb again, didn't they learn from the damn 4th and 2 2 weeks ago.
Then we line up for a field goal try and we pouch kick!
What the f*ck was that?
next drive we have 3rd and goal and we run 3 straight plays up the middle!
That is not creative play calling it is stupid play calling!
On the 3rd and 1 get the 1st down and then go to the endzone but get the 1st down first!
And on the goal line maybe a pass or a screen or a run off tackle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Childress you need to think before you call the damn plays!
Sorry I had to vent!
Good things Chester was running with determination and looked better than he has all season and the defense played a great 4th quarter!
The Defense was spectacular in the 2nd half of the 3rd quarter and the whole 4th quarter! What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
I was originally livid about the pouch kick, but the more I think about it, it was a good call. Either take what was by no means a sure field goal or peg the Lions back and let your defense do the work. With the way our D had been playing why not give them the opportunity to make a play?
All that said.. I need a week off! My heart can't take these close games!

Maybe we should've picked up that Mr. Schaub guy after all...
I Love Kerry Collins (and John Rocker).

How did he learn that today??
He's "attempted" to open it up the last 3 games, but only in the 4th quarter ... It only worked a little today on "O" ... Tomlin's "D" calls saved us today by not being conservative and creating a "FRENZY" !!!

DeFENSE! (boom boom)
DeFENSE! (boom boom)
DeFENSE! (boom boom)
feels different to win a game by the defence instead of the offence, but oh is it sweet.
now we have the, lets start solving our problems on all sides of the ball.

Re: Post game thought, comments, and observations
REMEMBER WHEN........
We would sit here and over analyze the play of the Defense.
"Why can't they stop them?"
"Why are they in Prevent?" "**** Teddy C and his D!"
Well, those were the days!
That was last year.
It is rather refreshing to actually want our D to be out on the field this year.
We know that they are more exciting than our Offense.
REMEMBER NOW?
Welcome to this year(and parts of last year).
"Our O sucks!"
"The OC (BC and OC) sucks!"
"The overpaid line sucks!"
"Our Wrs suck!"
"When are we going to score a TD?"
"Why are we so conservative?"
"When are we going to throw to Wiggins?"
"Which WR has hands?"
"What is wrong with our QB?"
"The coach is an idiot!"
Well, I left one of the complaints off that list.
Something well improved today.
Can you name it?
