Thread: Ponder. Trade ,cut,or keep?

AP might have seen his prime go with that hit. But if he comes back strong, realistically it is 5 years tops with him, with your three year window being alot more applicable.
Williams, as you hinted at, does not have 3 years left ... I dont know if he can legitimately be called top flight anymore, much less three years from now.
All that aside. If we are winning in three years then it is likely that Greenway, Ponder, whomever we draft this year and Rudolph are all in their primes. That is the nature of the beast. Building a winner is not just about building around the stars you already have, but progressing the other players into stars as well.
All that said. I have little confidence in this front office and coaching staff to do that. But, in this league, we are only a few solid personnel moves from being a really solid football team ... the question is can these people make the right damn moves?

The right moves and develop the players we have... BIG QUESTION.. Greenway was a waste of $10mil a year... can't cover anybody and was never an elite LB.. good tackler, but nothing else..
but to my point i was trying to make but didn't do a good job of.. promoting Spielman gives him 3 years minimum to build this roster back together plus 1-2 years to assess the third years draft class (5 years total for evaluation)... by the time you were to get rid of Spielman and build off of the existing roster or start over.. those guys are at the tail end of their most productive years..
in 3 years Jared will be 32 and I'm not so sure your looking at him being elite like he is not.. hence tail end.. harvin will be (26/27 point taken) Peterson will be 29/30.

Biggest problem with this team is the many mental mistakes and the lack of imagination by the entire staff to play to our strengths.. too many times this year the entire team looked lost for quarters at a time. only to try and rally with a comeback.. (esp late in the year).
Pats (secondary), Packers (secondary), Ravens (passing offense), all playoff teams have holes on their teams.. the coaches figure out a way to win in spite of the weaknesses... Our coaches can't do that for the life of them...
too many times we looked unprepared, over-matched and out coached.

Personally, we need to keep Ponder and work on some of our other issues. We have so many holes at this point that drafting a position where we are at least serviceable would be another step backwards in my opinion.
Historically we have done well with our first round pick, and I expect that to continue again this year. As bad as we looked in several positons, I am not sure how we could screw this up, except by taking a QB. QB and RB are the only positions that in my mind are off the board at the number three spot. Othe than that, pick away. We probably need help there.
