I think Fran nailed it with these quotes:

During my career, I never wanted to make the "spectacular" throw, the one commentators gush over. I wanted to make the easy throw, the one I knew I could make successfully to move down the field. I didn't want to have to make a 30-yard, back-shoulder pass into a tiny window between three defenders -- because for every one I completed, I knew I would have seven incompletions and a couple of interceptions. I'd rather find one-on-one matchups on throws I had confidence in.

The easy throws come when you know what the defense is doing -- and not doing. If you take one thing away, something else is there. The great quarterbacks make it look easy because they're always throwing to open guys, because they've figured out the defense. Against Detroit, Christian Ponder had to work way too hard for his completions and tried to force too many plays -- leading to bad turnovers.

AD had 18 touches not including what he caught. It was very apparent Musgrave decided to use Ponder instead of AD against the 8 man box, and it was a bad idea. Next week will tell the tale, even if the coaching staff ignores it... after 2 seasons, Ponder should be better, and if he doesn't show it he should be benched.

What upset me the most is how many times he threw the ball BEHIND his intended receiver. That NEVER got better, even on the passes he wasn't rushing to throw. When your QB makes the easy stuff look hard, its a big sign he isn't the answer.

Ponder showed his ineptitude. When it comes down to it, Ponder had no situational awareness, he looks scared in the pocket, and he can't read the defense.

I'm ready to see Cassel game-manage this team into the playoffs.

How many good teams have bad Quarterbacks? ... (Play Jeopardy Music)

The front office needs to accept that Ponder is not the answer and look elsewhere.

It could be worse. We could have Geno Smith.

Not even the great Tom Brady can match up with our own Christian Ponder

And I don't want to hear all the apologists coming out and defending this turd.

Ponder has an opportunity this week against Chicago. Underdog, against a good defense, everyone expects him to lay an egg. I think the Vikings have only one once in the last 10 years at Soldier. Not expecting much from him, but this game does setup nicely for him to show he can play in the NFL.

Let's say they had a wild plan to shake things up on the Lion defense.

Let's say they decided to change the game plan at the last minute due to things beyond their control.

I am willing to give Ponder one mulligan, but if he looks just as lost, behind, and SLOW as he did last week, this isn't anything more than a bet gone bad. We bet on ponder, and it is now time to minimize the damage.
