I've been watching the NFL network all morning, and OMG did Schaub screw the pooch for the Texans. Yates lit it up a year ago, but the coaching staff INSISTED Schaub was the starting QB when he got back...and the team is suffering for it. It kinda reminds me of the Vikings and Ponder.
When I saw JJ Watt almost say something about his QB's horrible playing, but barely manage to squeak out, "That's all I have to say." I could really sympathize.
I guess the point is, it could be worst for us. Schaub has his moments, but the Texans will never make it to the Super Bowl with him...he is a choker.
Schaub is 10x the quarterback Ponder is ... and Yates NEVER lit it up.
Yeah ... Schaub screwed up yesterday ... but Yates never looked better than Schaub did ... Cassel clearly looks better than Ponder.
Yea, it's a pretty big stretch to say that Ponder equals Schaub. Cassell equals Schaub is closer, but even that is a stretch.
I'm not sure which Schaub you are watching. He looks good 80% of the time, but he seems to fall apart at the worst times...Yates was extremely popular in Texas.
At least Schaub went through the process of being a backup and played respectable enough to warrant being brought in as a starter but yeah, since that time he hasn't really been pressured to earn his spot and he has failed to take that next step as a QB. Ponder still hasn't taken the step he needs to to get to the point he can start to try to take the next step.

Honestly, if we had Schaub, we'd be pretty damn good. Real good. We need some work on D, but our offense would be Legen...wait for it... FUCKING DAIRY. (Ok, tad exaggeration I suppose)
Ponder is more like Joey Harrington.
It is like comparing Virgin Mary to Courtney Love.

Yates was and is well liked in Texas, which is ALSO very different from how we see Cassel...mainly, there is a lot of suspicion with Cassel here. Whether he is better than Schaub was also never talked about by me, for the record. I only meant he took them to the playoffs, which made a lot of Texans happy.
That you want to make that point, awesome... but I say enough stupid things, don't assign me a point of view then make fun of it...hehe.
P.S. I guess saying he "lit it up" is in fact complimenting Yates, I should have chosen better words. I just saw it as another team with the same type of woes and thought it would be interesting to talk about.
Let's try this again for clarity:
Both Cassel and Schaub are being criticized for QBing teams that should be doing better, but perhaps it is their leadership skills and mistakes that are costing the team wins. Worst, both teams seem to have lost confidence in their leader.
Both Cassel and Yates seem to have the fan base on their side in getting the start, while the coaches disagree and stick with the "starter", which is causing friction.
How is that for clearing up my point? Or is does it still sound like I'm comparing the on the field skills of the starters and back up QBs?
