Re: Ponder did not have it easy
It was an interesting read but I didn't really get the feeling he had it all that rough.

Re: Ponder did not have it easy
yeah life was pretty good for him, I think we can all agree... I think the way his father raised him to play football was rather strict though seems like this has been something he's been working for since college... I didn't see it as his life was tough, rather he worked his butt off to get to where he is today...

Hopefully he doesn't become the second coming of Todd Marinovich.. I think the way his father raised him to play football was rather strict though seems like this has been something he's been working for since college...

Re: Ponder did not have it easy
It sounds as if he is smarter than that. No matter what, he is a high first round pick. all that work payed off.

Re: Ponder did not have it easy
Thanks my friend, it was a good read.
Couple of thoughts......
a. I'm sure glad we didn't have to listen to the media talk about how he was throwing to the High School recievers.
b. What I've found most interesting about him, not covered in this article, is how he changed his throwing motion to over come the forearm pain. Isn't there a highly touted 2nd year man out in Denver still trying to change his?
I, for one, can't wait for this kid to get on the field and start leading this team.
Its been without a leader for long enough. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Ponder did not have it easy
I love all the extra work he did in OTA's and camp the last 2 years. What a leader.

Re: Ponder did not have it easy
He was giving TJ that all important developmental time with the team to learn the offense and develop his leadership with the team.

Agreed. This kid is unflappable...so far. I too, am looking forward to watching his leadership take over our Team. I completely agree, in that, we have not had a young QB grab the reigns of the Team for awhile...arguably since Dante came to age. I think this kid has the intestinal fortitude to be "the man" for years to come...I hope my instincts are correct.

I don't read this story to mean a privileged kid made good. I read it that successful parents humbled their son, and gave him tools to be a leader. As they've taught, it's up to him to step up to the plate to realize his potential... to me, this is a great story already; even if he is not a great NFL QB. His parents are admirable to me, in that, they instilled confidence into their son...enough to step up already. This story is too new to judge or grade as it relates to an NFL QB, however, it is not too early to judge related to a young man.
I was impressed when Dante came to the Vikes, his commitment, his passion, his talent...nevermind how he was raised. Dante was an impressive human being coming to the Vikes. Something happened, not sure what, but, I was and have been quite disappointed in the outcome of Dante. I have a hunch, and it's just that, that Christian Ponder will not disappoint. Best to both.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
