Which players need to go in the off-season?

Which players in your opinions need to go this off season?

    Players that should go!

    Brad Johnson:
Good luck with the rest of your life and hope you have a great retirement.

    Travis Taylor:
He is to inconsistent and we need better receivers.

    Marcus Robinson:
Good on the fade in the end zone, but that is about it.

    Bethel Johnson:
Not a great receiver and he has stagnated as a returner and isn't a threat to break one or get us good field position.

    Troy Williamson:
Had hoped that he would turn it around with a different QB throwing to him, but he doesn't have the concentration level needed to be a WR in the NFL.

    Jimmy Kleinsasser:
To much money for somebody that is not being utilized, and he can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

    Jermaine Wiggins:
Apparently Childress doesn't think that wiggy has what he wants for a TE and no reason to have him if we don't go to him.

    Bryant McKinnie:
I really wish we hadn't signed him to an extension (looks like a waste of 49 million dollars), he is terrible and any speed rusher is blowing right by him!
I would rather have signed Leonard Davis from Arizona in the off season.

    Keneche Udeze:
0 sacks through 15 games and he hasn't been a factor in a game all season.

    Napo Harris:
Thanks for that roughing the passer penalty that gave the Pack a 1st down in the redzone, how long have you been playing in the NFL not to know that any helmet to helmet hit on a QB is roughing the passer?
He made up for it with causing the fumble but still was a stupid mistake and we need a better MLB!

    Ronyell Whittaker:
Sorry you are not good enough to play in the NFL, good luck in the arena league.

    Fred Smoot:
Good INT for a TD last night and you played your best game as a Viking yesterday, but to little to late!

    O-line coaches:
Should be one not 2 line coaches and it shouldn't be either one of you, bring in somebody that can do something with this over priced line!

People on the bubble that can go either way:

    Mike Rosenthal
Artis Hicks (maybe as a backup)
    Matt Birk (probowl?
I don't know how, didn't play like he did 3 years ago)
D Thomas (he is a big question mark at this point)
Ryan Longwell (not a great season, kickoffs are terrible)

People that have 1 more year to prove they can play or Coach.

    Childress and entire coaching staff
    Billy McMullen
    Marcus Johnson
    Erasmus James
    Chris Kluwe
    Tank Williams

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

All receivers should be on the chopping block, and trade Mewelde Moore for LaDainien Tomlinson.
I don't care if BJ sticks around, as long as he's doing a lot more clipboard carrying than playing....although he doesn't have the physical skills anymore, he might be a decent player-coach.

i think all of the players listed definitely have the chance to go, but to release them all would be a mistake.
A lot of our problem this year was the roster shake up we had from last year.
    Players need time to gel.
If we get rid of basically everyone and start again, we will just experience more of the same.

The only definite I can think of is Smoot.
BTW he play one hell of a game last night, but I don't think he wants to be in Minnesota anymore (can't blame him).
I think he still has good trade value, and we should cut our losses.

Re: Which players need to go in the off-season?

Brad Johnson, im pretty sure he's going to be cut or retire, however he's still only being paid backup money and could stay around - he's certainly got a lot of experience, he knows how to play the game, but he just cant anymore

Bethel Johnson, mediorcore wide reciever - our kickoff returner but really hasnt proved anything special other than going to the house vs the packers, but that was falsely called back - anyway when we draft ted ginn, he's not going to have that job either

Artis Hicks, might stay around as utility backup offensive lineman, but wont start..

Marcus Johnson, has outplayed he's role at right tackle, will only get another chance at right guard, which is doubtful

Napoleon Harris, pretty sure he wont get an extension, he needs to play in another scheme where the ILB blitz alot and i hope he succedes, i like him as a player.

Dontarrious Thomas, hasnt really done anything in his career at minnesota, but might accept a career-backup role.

Fred Smoot, way to much money for a nickleback and thats why he's out next year, however he will always have a place in my heart after doing the lambeau leaf mocking the packer crowd after taking it back for 6..!

Tank Williams, dont really know about this guy.. Dwight Smith has played ok, i think the only change he's back is if we move Smith to the nickleback and start Tank at SS, Sharper FS

    --

Troy Williamson gets one more season to prove himself

Travis Taylor gets re-signed to be a slot reciever type of guy..

    And some other free agents

Rod Davis, special teams guy might make room for James, Greenway or other rookies we get

Heath Farwell, theredzone has him as an ERFA, im pretty sure he's back next year.. energic special teams guy, you can always use that on your team..

Jason Glenn, Free Agent also made his sign of impact on special teams this season, might be back too, but then again some guys are coming back from IR and the draft are there..

Anthony Herrera, theredzone has him as RFA, and i think we will give him the lowest tender, lets hope Childress gives him a shot to play, i know alot of you guys like him, me too

Will Hunter = gone, sorry i like that he's updating his journal but i dont think he will be around next season, maybe on the PS

Spencer Johnson, RFA.. Will proberly reciever lowest tender..

Chris Kluwe is an ERFA and will be re-signed

Ross Kolodzeij?!, who, he played a little bit in the start of the season, but i dont know where this guy was gone.. dosnt look like a 2007 player..

Billy McMullen, might re-sign for another year or to, well deserved, an ok 4/5 WR, but LOL he ended up starting some games here..

Richard Owens, really dont know about him.. RFA.. might reciever lowest tender..

Artose Pinner, is an RFA - pretty sure we re-sign him..

Darrion Scott, RFA - workhorse end.. will reciever a tender.. thats for sure..

    Jason Whittle, buh bye..

Ciatrick Fason will be gone, bank on it.. not a free agent but he's getting no playing time at all..

Ronyell Whittaker, seeeee ya! going to be cut

I think some of us need to relax.
We are not going to let a guy go because of one penatly or one game.
IF we did get rid of all those players, we would be far worse off...

The first two that come to mind are Fred Smoot and Ronyell Whitaker.

it seems like you want the whole offense to go?

i could see brad johnson, fred smoot, troy williamson, roynell whitaker and marcus johnson and jim kleinsasser.

bryant mckinnie is having a bad year but is extremely talented and give up matt birk? the dude is the soul of our team.
Also Napoleon depends on how much he wants

Re: Which players need to go in the off-season?

Dont shake up the O-line, give them all time to get used to playing together, I didn't even know they ran zone blocking until the thursday night game.

Maybe have Mckinnie drop some weight in the offseason if speed rushers give him that much of a problem.

And Troy Williamson, he dropped one pass and I never saw him again during the thursday night game.
Just keep goin back to this guy, next year should be his last year if he can't get anything done in Minnesota, I'd really hate to see him do better elsewhere though.
And none of our receivers can break away, they never have a chance for YAC, I think it's their route running that is the problem.

I dunno which linebacker is the worst at pass coverage, so just drop one of them and pick up a better linebacker in pass coverage, it's possible Greenway is already that guy.
