Peterson prefers to run alone
http://min.scout.com/2/806625.htmlVikings running back Adrian Peterson said Thursday that he prefers to be in the backfield without a fullback, but different plays call for different personnel. See what Peterson had to say about that and becoming more patient as a runner
Looks like the T-rich crowd won't like to read this one.
Also........
........A certain Soooner fan won't like that quote either I suspect as he has been in my ass lately for even thinking negative thoughts about his boy.He also said his offensive line has been doing a good job all season long and that he can get better at helping the men up front.
“Sometimes I put those guys in bad positions. I’m not giving them the best chance to get to their block. … It all falls back on me. I’ve got to do a better job,†he said.
;D
(JK my friend.
Couldn't resist).
;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Peterson prefers to run alone
Thanks for the post Marrdro, I really think we should go with the single back I formation, with two TE's. But todays game calls for many different looks, and it is important to mix it up also. We've just got to beat a staked box, and Adrian needs to let those "Zone" blocking scheme's develope a nano second longer before he makes his cut.

Vikings' Peterson: Better days are coming
Despite being second in the NFL in rushing yards, the Vikings back says he needs to be in better sync with his offensive line.

Re: Peterson prefers to run alone
Kindof funny that Rays goal of alot of sacks this year is viewed as a dumb goal, but AD's goal of getting 2,000 yards isn't viewed the same way by fans.Vikings coach Brad Childress said he's not surprised by Peterson's harsh self-critique. He noted that Peterson sets the bar high for himself, pointing to Peterson's goal of 2,000 yards rushing this season as an example.
"I think that's Adrian being Adrian," he said. "But that's what you like about him. He's not satisfied in whatever area it is."
Causes me to scratch my slightly balding head and wonder about that one a bit.
Possibly another double standard here?

a dumb goal.
I think it is a good goal.
The problem is he hasn't lived up to it or even close to it.
I think he had a great point when he made that goal after the Vikes obtained Allen.
Between Allen and the two Williams' you would think Ray would be the forgotten man so to speak.
He just needs to step up.
Not sure if his goal is obtainable this year but if this line stays healthy and together there is no reason why he shouldn't set his goals high.

Crazy how Peterson has much room to grow and he is still putting up great numbers
Imagine in a few years if he can stay healthy
The kid is a freak.. Just a freakkk

While it is important to mix things up, I also think it is important for the coaching staff to allow at least a certain percentage of his carries to be catered towards his strengths and preferences.

If Ray had broken the single game sack record last year, and racked up several sacks in other games, and THEN predicted breaking Strahan's record, it would be viewed with the same credibility received by Peterson's claim.
However, he didn't, and it wasn't.

Mmm I don't think Adrian's was dumb because he rushed for a hell of alot of yards in his rookie year while missing time
Ray Edwards career high in sacks is 5 and a half I think? I would say shooting for 10 would have been a better goal and something I saw possible BEFORE the season started
I think if Jared Allen had predicted he would break the sack record it wouldn't have been that farfetched
I think Ray was just shooting real high (not really a bad thing) but he should have been more realistic

I hear ya with respect to AD, but seriously, 2,000 yards and no one thinks that is as lofty of a goal as young Ray predicting his sack goal?"Marrdro" wrote:
