Re: Peterson gets no love for MVP

WOW who gives a shit about Peter Kings MVP votes...

go to page three of his MMQB, he has his "fine fifteen" or something, ranking his top 15 teams.

He ranks the vikings at 12, thats fine.
But read his comment.

12. Minnesota (10-6). Nobody loves the Vikings, but you've got to at least like a team that wins seven of its last nine to make the playoffs.
lol, i really hate this guy, why even say that?

IMO, King is one of the few who has given the Vikings any love at all. And what he says here is basically true...nobody loves us. Fine with me...more fodder for our bulletin board. Sure is better than believing you're better than you really are.

Peyton Manning no doubt for MVP.

AD for Super Bowl MVP. ;D

AD is not worthy of the MVP title if you ask me.

Although Peterson didn't have amazing numbers.. Without him we would have been fucked.. And that has to play into it.. he did lead the lead in rushing (and fumbles I know) He needs to be in the top 5 IMO
IMO, there is no way that Brees makes the list. He had a great statistical year, but his team was out of contention for a LOOONG time. You have to look past numbers, IMO.

1) Manning
2) Michael Turner
3) Peterson
4) DeAngelo Williams
5) Pennington

Re: Peterson gets no love for MVP

Doh!
I thought they had already given it to PMann...So...this is for the regular season, or shouldn't we wait until after the playoffs?

Faulk says Peterson is MVP
On the NFL Network's morning show, former Pro Bowl running back Marshall Faulk said he would pick Adrian Peterson as his MVP.

"He has no franchise quarterback, he has no Pro Bowl wide receiver," Faulk said. "It's just him."
http://blogs.twincities.com/Vikings/2008/12/faulk_says_peterson_is_mvp.html

I can also confirm that Deion said, (I think it was, word for word) "Peterson is My MVP," on the NFL channel analysis of Sunday's games.
Didn't catch much more than that as I was working, but a comment about 1700+ yards rushing being pretty impressive...(especially, when the other team knows darn well you are coming!)

IDK.
Seems this thing is a bit too much popularity contest now too, kinda like the probowl...I think it could go in a number of directions, many with nearly equal merit...

Peyton:
I hate to give him another one, but pulling that many wins out with most of your OL, your top RB, and several Defensive starters out due to injury, pretty much seals the deal.

Rivers:
With a stuggling LT and their best defensive star out for the year early, he willed his team to several tough come back wins to sneak into the playoffs (and the best passer rating in NFL!)...If I'm IND, I'm not stoked to be playing them instead of the Broncos!!!

Peterson:
Probably wins hands down with half the fumbles!
The regularity of him getting 8 or 9 yards against 9 or 10 in the box is simply freakin amazing!!!

DeAngelo:
There were some struggles early, but as I recall, when we played them in week3, they had several OL injuries already...did his turn around coincide with those players returns?
Whether or not, the guy was the MVP of the Mountain Vikings (my FF team) as he turned it up right when I needed him, scoring 20 pts three weeks in a row followed by two weeks of 30+!!!
Really, 18 rushing TDs for the league lead and a pair of receptions for scores too...not too shabby with 1515 rushing yards total (third in NFL).
Seems to me, that CAR would be better off without DW than us without AP, so I'm putting him 4th...

Brees came close to breaking a pretty impressive passing yardage record, and I think deserves some cred, but not quite the win, cuz, unfortunately, they aren't in the playoffs.

Re: Peterson gets no love for MVP

Ooops!
Turner definitely should be on the list of possibilities!
1699 yards AND 17 TDs!!
Dang!!
On a team with a rookie QB, rookie Head Coach, rookie OT, etc etc...?
WoW!
BUT, Roddy White did have a hell of a year for the Falcons too...helping out Ryan's case as well.

I agree but I always put in one with huge numbers regardless of record.. Unless it's like the Lions

This is hard because I want to put in Turner

Re: Peterson gets no love for MVP

The name of the award is the MVP. MVP.
Payton had a bad line but also had Marvin, Gonzales, Clark and Wayne to take the pressure off. Take away Payton and I beleive they still make the playoffs with a QB like, Pennington or Anderson. He has too many Weapons.

Williams - Has an elite WR and a talented veteren Qb. Something that Peterson doesn't have. Lets not even talk about his O - line.

Turner - Solid QB, Elite WR
---

If it comes to the most valuable. It has to be Peterson. He lacks the TDs but take him away from our team and we don't win 5 games. CT is great but everyone forgets the games that Peterson willed us to victory. No player in the league means more.
