Its pre season???? so the play calling is very vanilla which it should be...And when will we "show we can pass well ?".
I also think that the following is soon to become very obvious: Bevell's play-calling is terrible.
We threw a screen once to AP tonight and it sort of worked. I just hope that Bevell figures his offense out before the season begins so that we don't see the stacked box with AP having no lanes... :
and the play calling hasnt even been bad anyway
but w/e sometimes i dont know what your thinking

Re: Peterson ?
It is best to panic after every game when it comes to individual player's performances, especially in preseason.

Re: Peterson ?
Look at AD's big games from last year...
Most of his numbers are in the 2nd half.
They even mentioned this during the broadcast last night.
He hits the defenders and wears them down.
So...
If most of his yards are historically in the 2nd half, and he does not play the 2nd half of preseason games, then logically his pre season numbers aren't that good.
Two more weeks...
Just be patient.

Re: Peterson ?
As I said in another post and believe it's true. Childress has told AD not to "overdo" trying to get extra yards. Play it smart and don't get hurt.

AD's big numbers almost always come in the second half.
When the D is run down,
but he isn't.
Hence the "All Day" nickname.
And it is freaking preseason.
How can someone seriously complain about the play calling in preseason?
Especially when our starters have outperformed the opponent's starters in every game?Zeus wrote:

Re: Peterson ?
I didn't exactly see gaping holes for him to run through last night.
However, I do fear a sophmore slump. It can't all be that they are "stacking the box". If he's the 2nd coming, he should at least break one every now and then. :-I've been a Viking fan since I was just out of diapers, hopefully we get Super Bowl win before I go back in 'em.

Re: Peterson ?
IMO the Oline is a bit of a concern at the moment, not AP, not Chester but overall the blocking and ability to create. The Run Blocking looks the same as the end of last year and the pass blocking is making there far share of mistakes. Last night everyone on the line got owned in some form. There were times when the Pass Blocking held up and thats exactly what will have to happen with either Frerotte or Booty.
On the other hand we played without Sidney Rice, Tarvaris Jackson and Bernard Berrian. All three of these guys will work together to help the oline in there own way. Bottom line we need those guys to stay healthy so we can score more TD's then we did last night.

Re: Peterson ?
I hate to even bring this up because I hope it is not true. But is it possible that AP did so well because he was so new last year, and they didn't have film on him ? I mean, after that 49ers game, it seemed that every D we faced had and answer to stop Nr. 28. Bears, Redskins, etc. All stacked the box and we didn't find a way to deal with that.
I really hope I am wrong about that.
I do think that Rice and Berrian will get us out of this and force the safeties out of the box.
