While that is valid, it is also a straw man. To bash the Vikings fumbles, picks, 12th man, and lack of special teams coverage does not invalidate the premise that the officiating was once again not even.

The defensive line was held several times at the point of attack or while nearly sacking Brees. In the NFL, holds go unflagged if not flagrant, but when they obviously affect the play, they do get thrown. Even those I can deal with, so let us move on.

The low hit on Favre was exactly what the Brady rule was meant to eliminate. How that was not flagged is beyond comprehension.

The fifth provision of Rule 12, Section 2, Article 12 (roughing the passer) says that: "A rushing defender is prohibited from forcibly hitting in the knee area or below a passer who has one or both feet on the ground, even if the initial contact is above the knee. It is not a foul if the defender is blocked (or fouled) into the passer and has no opportunity to avoid him.
How about the first down dive. That one could have gone either way, but if a player loses possession, his forward progress is judged from the place he gained possession onwards. In this case, if he leaped over the pile, lost possession, and was knocked back, the ball is placed where he was knocked back to or onward from there. On a goalline play, it does not matter once the plane is broken, but this was an open field live play. In this one the official must rule the player lost possession, and he may not have seen it that way, so it would be difficult to overturn.

The pass interference in overtime. Poor call at best. The Saints defenders were bumping and pulling on Vikings receivers all day. Yet, on this play, the Saints receiver basically fell down stretching for a ball that was way off target. The contact was minimal and did not affect the outcome of the play. Considering that the Vikings had a similar situation when on offense earlier in the game with more contact and no flag thrown, it was dubious for the official to throw the flag at this time.

The bobbled catch to set up the field goal was a textbook incomplete pass. A few seasons ago, Shiancoe had a couple of those with different officiating crews, and both, upon further review, declared each pass an incompletion.

Certainly, the Minnesota Vikings bungled their way to the loss, but even with the fumbled and the last Favre pick, they could have won the game had the officating crew played it straight. Of course, the Vikings could have bungled that as well.

I thought the refs allowed the game to get out of hand early. The Saints were pushing the limits of late hits, driving into the ground, low hits, even hits after the whistle (after the false start) and the refs just let it happen. Maybe the Vikings should have been taking those shots after the whistle too.

Morelli and his team seemed intent on not throwing flags even when warranted. It just seemed we got the short end, as usual. BTW, we are 1-3 with Morelli's team this year and 12-1 with others, for what it's worth.

The Vikings can blame no one more than themselves but, as we all know, it's normal for all things seem to converge so we can have our typical last minute loss. I thought maybe the "Favre magic" would be stronger than the "Vikings' NFCCG jinx" but our force is strong.

Agreed we just need a fairly called game

    It's all I ask
Looks like that was too much to ask for - at least in the OT!
At least they were good enough to wait until OT to fuck us over.
WTF you talking about? They didnt call any holds. The low hit on Favre which was meant to take him out of the game wasnt called. They Fed us all game long.
I watched the game with a bears fan, and even he was questioning the calling. The Saints coverage on our guys was waaaay tight. All we wanted was the game to be called consistently. If they weren't going to call pass interference on the Saints, don't do it to the Vikes. It's not like they were questionable calls. It was obvious.
To call the interference in OT, which was very questionable to begin with was awful. They gave the game to the Saints with that call. Ditto the 4th & 1. Ditto the Incomplete Pass. Three bullshit calls on the first drive of OT.

Is that correct? The Vikings were 1-3 with Morelli's crew?

What source is used for that?
