"We talked about a lot of things and the main thing for he and I was to make sure that we want the same thing," Frazier said. "That is to bring a championship to Minnesota.
I believe Harvin sees it that way as well.

Those first three games were so ridiculous!! No adjustments, and McOne-Hopper throwing turds in the dirt certainly didn't help out our D at all! (Who were pitching 3 half-time shut-outs in a row!)

The Bengals are a pretty good comparison, but still apples to oranges. One the one hand, yes we both had continuation of defensive scheme and the personel to run it...until we lost our best 2 CBs for the year. And, didn't have a safety to speak of to start it.
But, perhaps more importantly, the Bengals OL was 4th best in the league, allowing only 25 sacks all season, while, the Vikes tied for 5th WORST with nearly double that at 49. And while neither of our recieving crews were fully stocked, they at least had 2 guys with enough speed to beat people deep, while we only had 57% of one in Percy!!
We addressed the secondary by drafting 2 Safeties, a CB and signing 2 more FA CBs. We also made a huge investment in our OL with Kalil, and added Simpson and a couple of guys with good potential to our recieving core. Add in a whole year of practice and experience for our QB(s), and I think things are moving in the right direction.
How far in that direction remains to be seen, I'm thinking 6 wins is likely enough to keep Frazier, and we might even hit 8 with a bit of luck and fewer, more spread out injuries.
One key for me is progress on OL and with Ponder/Webb. We've got a lot of youth in those spots that need coaching up, and if we don't see improvement, I think Musgrove and Co. can pack their bags whatever our record turns out to be.
I just don't think we know booh about Ponder yet, he's only played a half of a season, and without much help around him. Even Peyton Manning was 3-13 to start, and then went on to win his division for ten years in a row!! I just want to see progress...IF not, like I said before, Fire the whole fricken mess and start over!Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

A huge problem on our team is Depth! We draft players in our last picks that never seem ready to play. We aren't building anyone up.

My take on the games where we couldn't ever seem to hold a lead was based more on our talent level. Coaching needs to be considered as well, but I think we benefited more by poor play from our opponents early and improved play later in the game. You win games in the 4th quarter kind of thing. Better teams rise to the top as the game wears on.
We surprised a few teams early in games, by coming out hard and firing on all cylinders while the other team took a while to wake up. Once they did wake up and start clicking on offense, we simply couldn't stay with them either on defense or offense. McNabb couldn't complete a pass, our secondary couldn't cover a rock with a blanket, and the DL can only bail you out so many times.
edit: and depth as Kevon points out was a big part of itLast edited by tastywaves; 06-26-2012 at 10:42 AM.

Ahhhhh, my mountain dwelling friend, you continue to be one of the best posters on the site. Excellent post my friend.
Have you ever looked at the OL for the Bengals and see where they were drafted?

Cook is the best one to look at, next comes Livings. Then you have a 4th rounder, 2nd rounder and a 1rst rounder.
As to Ponder. I agree, truth is, I don't think we will really know for about 2 or 3 more years especially if our coaching staff messes him up a bit and then we have to move onto a new staff next year. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
