He's an elite talent, whether people want to admit it or not. Shame to lose him, but the Vikes caused this issue themselves. Our coaching staff was never able to get him on the field enough, despite Harvin making a huge impact whenever he touched the ball. Couple that with the fact that the Vikes have no real interest of a QB competition, despite Joe Webb being a legitimate option and seemed to ignite the team last year.
This is a trickle-over from the Childress years, where the coaching staff was always trying to out-smart themselves and thought they had a higher football IQ than they actually have. If I was Percy, I'd get the hell out of dodge too. The Wilfs have created one of the worse teams/coaching staffs/FO's in the league during their 7 year reign.
Yes, he is an elite talent, but IDK about the thought that he was under utilized. I feel he was used out of position as a primary instead of slot receiver, but he saw the field a lot. He was on kick offs and the majority of the offensive formations. The only time that he was routinely pulled was in the redzone - which was stupid to be sure - but he was still on the field more than 50% of the time as previously indicated.Quote:

I'm still hoping that this has been blown at least a lil out of proportion, and that we will be able to work something out that makes him a "happy camper" in MN again! He's our best offensive player (other than a healthy AP) and does 3 jobs well for us. He started off as Offensive ROY and has averaged a steady 70+ receptions/year with a 12.0 yard average per catch! He also averages 6.9 yds/rush and 26.6 yards per kickoff return. Thats a shit ton of touches, hard to really say, "under-utilized." I think we could get him a few more, but, 70 catches a year is a pretty damn good start to a career.
Basically, I'm saying, "PAY THE MAN!!" He deserves more than the vet minimum, and the Vikings can always protect themselves in the later years with contract clauses/roster bonus, etc.
IF its not about money, and he really just wants out because of QB/scheme/coaching...I think he's being a bit brash and short-sighted. Chances of going to a legit contender with a great QB in place are usually slim, cuz they already have a good team, and are less willing to pay the piper that a trade like this would require. It's usually the mediocre teams that make, "desperation moves." And, the NFL is so fluid these days...every year there is what? 60+% new playoff teams!!?! It is very possible that we could have a new scheme, coach, AND QB NEXT SEASON! ;)-
So, "Come On MAN!" Stay a while Percy, and see what happens. Jared Allen and AP aren't bad building blocks to have around you!
ON another note, what do you think his value would be? He's a steal of a pick where we got him, should be worth at least a first +!?!!????

This is not really him whining over a contract ... this is simply him saying, "I am not used well here. The staff does not have faith in me. They give me shit over genuine medical concerns. And I don't think there is a promising future in Minnesota."
All of those are pretty fair honestly. It has definitely been reported and shown that Frazier has gotten upset about the migraine issues and other injury issues. Percy CLEARLY wanted to be on the field more at times last season and was being punished for having injury issues. Harvin, correctly, thinks that this is bush league and he wants to get away from bush league.
I wish things had went differently and he was not going this route, but I am guessing that this is not from out of leftfield. He or his agent have expressed their concerns and clearly do not feel like anyone gives a shit about them.
By keeping the Childress regime in place with Frazier the Vikings have a coaching staff that is willing to tell players it is the system that matters and the players don't. Harvin does not want to be wasted by a staff that clearly cannot use his talents.
If he was somewhere like Atlanta, Carolina, New England, Denver, Pittsburgh or Green Bay ... he would be an ALL-PRO. Book it. Not just a 1,000 receiver and 340 yard rusher ... but something that is completely unguardable and nearly impossible to gameplan for. He knows this. His agent knows this. And he wants out.
Tough to argue honestly.
