Percy Harvin is making Vikings QB Brett Favre look good.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...Percy%20Harvin

"Every time he texts me, it just shocks me," Harvin says. "Brett Favre is actually texting my phone. It's humbling to know that a guy who's done it all, who will go down as one of the best quarterbacks ever … still likes to help.
I thought Brett Favre only played for himself, and it wasn't his job to help others out.

Yeah ... that is what some would lead you to believe.

Primarily Packers fans ... and even a few Jets fans.

I think we have all seen otherwise.

His INT rate isn't the only thing that he has changed since he came to the land of 10,000 lakes.
He was quoted as saying it wasn't his job to teach Rodgers.

    Exactly...it's not his job.
That is why they pay coaches.
It's not his job to teach Harvin either.

Yes it's true that Favre, once he was asked whether or not he would mentor Rodgers, said that it "Wasn't his job" ... - And that is true ...

However, - in that same breath ... it is probably also true that Rodgers never really even tried to get Favre to "teach him" either ... Ever since Rodgers was drafted, both from management and from (most) Packer Fans perspective, Rodgers was "groomed" to be Favre's successor ... And in some ways, based on interviews by Rodgers it *might* have gone into his head too much ...

We don't need to go back more than one season, where Rodgers basically told the fans to either support him or shut up ... - His attitude has changed since then ..., and also untill the last game against Dallas, Rodgers had repeatedly said in several interviews that he had no intention of changing his style of play ...

After that (in)famous player sit-down, Rodgers did indeed change his approach to the game, and everyone was able to see that in the Dallas Game ... Granted his (Rodgers, Personal) stats weren't "great", but his game play was significantly better than in the past ... - Way
more effective, and all of a sudden the offensive line of the Packers, didn't look nearly as bad as the previous 7 games had indicated ...

I think it's pretty evident by now (from seeing the video as well as interviews) that Favre has ZERO problems with speaking with players, regardless of position, as long as "they give something back" ... - It's two way street ... and I honestly have no doubts, that had Rodgers asked Favre, then Favre would have happily complied and spoken with him about plays or what not ...

This is a good place to speculate during football discussions, but as my good friend Z points out, that is purley speculation on your part.

Why is it so hard to think that maybe, just maybe, our current starting QB realized that one of the things he was brought in here to do was win, the other was to help with the maturasation process of some of our younger players.

I think to say otherwise kindof detracts for his efforts to do that.

    its not his job.
If Rogers asked, he helped, but I don't think he went out of his way, because at that point, he was having a great season, and working for a superbowl.
Now is a little different, yes we're working for a superbowl but he realizes his role here is different.
He's not our future and he knows that.
But by helping sid and Harvin, he's making it easier for himself.
I still don't see him working with sage or TJ nearly as much as Sid or Harvin, although he still does.

Actually it's not purely speculation on *my* part, more of an "educated guess", based information and talks ...

There are actually others who have postulated this long before me ...
