Paul Edinger the next Fuad Reveiz? And Kluwe...
Looking at the kicking game, I don't have stats on this but I don't remember a Vikings kicker making this many game winning field goals since Fuad Reveiz did I think in 1991 or 1992. Reveiz had like 3 or 4 "Fuad Shots" as Chris Berman called them, that won the game for the Vikes. This year, twice with the Pack and once with the Vagiants, I think Edinger has to have the most clinchers since Fuad.
And Kluwe is from another world. I know people have talked about him a lot already, but this guy's kicks are unlike any punter I've ever seen. Not only can he clear almost the entire field, but he is usually very accurate when he has to be, pinning kicks right where we need them. The front office needs to make this guy a long term asset."Meet at the quarterback!" -Purple People Eaters

The Definitions of Clutch:
n.
1. A hand, claw, talon, or paw in the act of grasping.
2. A tight grasp.
3. Control or power. Often used in the plural: caught in the clutches of sin.
4. A device for gripping and holding.
1. Any of various devices for engaging and disengaging two working parts of a shaft or of a shaft and a driving mechanism.
2. The apparatus, such as a lever or pedal, that activates one of these devices.
3. A tense, critical situation: came through in the clutch.
4. A clutch bag.
So yes, that second kick was clutch, that first kick was just a cryin' shame.

He kicks Field goals for a living. Freezing or not, there would be no excuse for anything other than making that kick."PurpleMafia" wrote:

All 3 kicks where clutch IMO. You dont look at the yards, you look at the situation and the elements. Below 30 degrees monday night with the wind swirling, nails the kick. And you dont call it clutch? Thats clutch in my book.

Blah blah, you are right there would be no excuse for missing that kick, but there is no question he is clutch ... hitting from 56 and then from 48 on the ROAD is clutch ... and that is a clutch kick, whether there is no excuse for missing it or not, it is still coming through in the clutch ... it was clutch time and he came through, that simple ...
And no I don't remember so many clutch kicks in a while ... I guess it would be nice to not see any more because we are killing people. Right now he would not be in the running for the pro bowl because he has missed a few too many kicks (not all his fault though) ... but Kluwe is definitely a stud and should be a pro bowl punter in his rookie season.

well put midgensa
edinger is one of the clutchest but id like to see hime make some of the field goals to start off the game, he missed one last night which wasnt that bad considering it was short and nearly 50 yards long in outdoors but he should have made some in new york and chicago

Edinger has made clutch kicks but let's not get out of control here. He earns a lot of money to kick field goals and let's face it, he hasn't been consistent. I commend the guy for making a 56 yarder and a 48 yarder with the game on the line on the road. That is awesome. But let's also look at how he has missed field goals that ruins a team spirit. How many easy ones has he missed this year from in the 20s or 30s? I think we need to look for a place kicker again in the off-season. All field goals mean something. Not just the ones at the end of a game. You can't tell me you don't get mad when the Vikings drive down the field and he misses a 30 yard field goal. As many problems as our offense has had this year, he needs to make those.
