    PAT WILLIAMS FATHER DIES!!!

    http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/football/13504293.htm

This week's anticipated war of words between Vikings nose tackle Pat Williams and Chicago Bears center Olin Kreutz was interrupted Wednesday by a slap of reality.

Williams returned home to Monroe, La., following the death Tuesday night of his father, Mayfield, who had been in a coma since suffering a stroke Oct. 19.

Vikings coach Mike Tice said Williams was shaken by his father's passing and it's uncertain when the nine-year veteran will return.
"He's going to call me and let me know," Tice said.
Williams dominated Kreutz in their first meeting this season, a 28-3 Bears victory on Oct. 16, and got in some verbal shots a month later.

"You all want to bump the guy up," Williams said then. "Kreutz, he ain't nothing but a joke. He's been a joke since he came in the league. I've never respected the guy."
Kreutz fired back in Wednesday's Chicago Sun-Times, blasting Williams and his agent, Angelo Wright, who suggested last week that the Bears center had worked to blackball Williams in player voting for the Pro Bowl.

"When (Williams) talks nonsense about me like that, I can respond in so many ways," Kreutz told the Sun-Times. "I can attack him. I can call him a fat slob. I can tell him he has never made the Pro Bowl. I can say all of this stuff. Then his stupid agent comes out and says I am manipulating Pro Bowl votes. Like I actually know that many people. Obviously, if everyone likes you, you're probably doing something wrong. I'm glad there is someone out there that hates my guts. It makes me feel good about myself."

Kreutz clearly was unaware of the condition of Williams' father when he made those remarks, and the Pro Bowl center might not even play Sunday. He is listed as questionable because of an ankle injury.
Wright guessed that Williams won't return before Friday and won't have any comment on Kreutz's remarks.

"Pat's not going to respond to his stuff," Wright said. "That guy's probably not even going to play Sunday."
Bears coach Lovie Smith hopes he has heard the last on the subject.

"Pat's a good player, Olin's a good player and I'm just going to leave it at that," he said.

    Re: PAT WILLIAMS FATHER DIES!!!

My thoughts go out to Pat and his family!! His father has been sick for awhile and I know that it can have a devastating effect on you as I lost my father in July after a long illness and it is a hard thing to watch someone you love die that way!
What we've got here is failure to communicate.
