Michael Silver of Sports Illustrated has a story on the publication’s website about former Vikings safety Robert Griffith. Among the issues Griffth talks about is the Vikings’ 41-0 loss to the New York Giants in the NFC title game after the 2000 regular season....
That was a painful day indeed, but not as painful as the loss to the Falcons in the 1998 Title game.
The most painful day I recollect though, is the day we lost Korey Stringer.

I was having a good night, and that reminder just pissed me off :(
1998 was far more painful . . . that was our year . . . our destiny . . . our first Super Bowl (finally) . . . and it all went terribly wrong!

I have a lot of bad memories including those mentioned. I also regret the loss of both AC and Cris Carter, both Carters had magic hands when catching the ball.
Then again I have a lot of good memories...Moss and his fake moon, winning the game with just field goals, Gary Anderson's field goal record, etc. etc. etc....
Life goes on... and "Our day will come!"
I pulled up a GREAT memory the other day...
I was working security at the waterpark, when a guy dressed in Green Bay garb walks up to the island bar...I asked him if he thought Favre was going to hang up his cleats after this year, and he said he thought it was gonna happen last year.
Anyway, I let him know where my alliance stands, and he said "Oh, man, I HATE you guys!" with a big grin.
He also said he thinks the Vikes/Packers rivalry is bigger than that of the Bears/Packers.
Then (and this is the best part) he tried to get a reaction out of me by bringing up the Antonio Freeman "catch" in that Monday Night game, and said that was his best memory.
I didn't miss a beat and said with a BIG grin, "Yeah, my best memory is their Playoff game against each other".
That shut him up RIGHT quick.

Another disapointing time was when we lost on the last play to the Cardinals and the packers got to go to the playoffs instead of us...

watching moss cry at the podium with the other guys just tore me up.
as bad as some of those losses were, that moment made me cry the most.
not that i cry alot.
but i did shed a little tear when we got killed by the giants cuz i figured cris carter was going to retire and i thought he deserved better.
and the falcon game i just stared at the tv stunned for like an hour cuz i knew they were no where close to as good as we were.
in all truthfullness though, the vikes have to be what the red sox were to baseball before they finally won.
i mean the bills could be up there but that was all in a 4 year span.
our misery stretches out for decades.
