Thread: Offsides Penalties Cost Us At Least 13 pts, Proof

We had 7 penalties for 44 yards, but 3 of them were key penalties that cost us this game. In the New Orleans game Drew Brees used the hard count to get our defense to tip their hand and show their coverage. It appears Favre tried to do the same in this game but our own players were not prepared. He drew our own players offsides 3 times and it cost us at least 13 points and an interception.

Here are the relevant plays:
1) First drive of the game:

We have 27 yards for a touchdown. Penalty caused 3rd down and 3 to go to 3rd down and 8, and they couldn't convert even though they had a 6 yard pass. They went for it on 4th and 2 but pass was batted down.

Minnesota challenged the pass completion ruling, and the play was REVERSED. 4-B.Favre pass short right intended for 12-P.Harvin INTERCEPTED by 21-V.Davis at MIA 1. 21-V.Davis to MIA 1 for no gain (12-P.Harvin).
We have 10 yards for a touchdown. Penalty caused 2nd and 9 to become 2nd and 14. Peterson got 2 yards on 2nd and 14. Favre threw an interception on 3rd and 12.

3) 3rd quarter:

Penalty caused 3rd and 6 to become 3rd and 10 (at our 5 yard line). Favre gets sacked on 3rd and 10, fumbles, they score a touchdown.
