Official Vikings vs. Lions PreGame Thread
Amazing how quiet the board is after a win huh? Even Webby has forgotten to update the countdown to our next game.
For those who think PP.O reeks of negativity, at least we're not the Lions! No F2FA site, and check out this thread. Must see material.

One of my favorites:
My Preview:What really sucks is I am playing the guy in my fantasy league that has AP and the Vikings defense.
I do not stand a chance winning that game and I have great team too but heck those two alone will score 100 points in our league.
Vikings run offense
- I look at the Lions D and they have maybe two players that concern me, maybe. Redding and Sims. Simple solution. Hutch/Birk owns Redding. Run away from Sims.
- I honestly hope we run it 40 times this game. That two FB set we saw last week? LOVE IT. We have been trying to hit the edge lately, but I hope to see more of a power running game.
- Won't be too good early in the game with them putting 9 in the box. but we'll wear them down inside and gash them for big runs late. I wish we had a FB.
- Anyways, stay away from turnovers and penalties and we'll be fine.
Vikings pass offense
- We should be able to simulate what we did against the Saints.
- Some pundits are saying Gus we'll have a huge game. Others are saying AD will have such a huge game that Gus will not need to throw that much. I am saying that we are going to work the deep ball like no other. Playaction baby. Playaction.
- Our screens and swing passes have not been working, so we might as well go downfield because we had some success there last week. Things might change when facing a good defense, but the Lions are not that defense.
- My only worry is that we get into a shoot out. Chilly is shootout prone. He still thinks that we can pass a lot better than we actually can.
- You all know my theories about how this offense should work by now. Run the ball. Always use playaction. Always have an RB in the backfield. Stay away from turnovers and penalties and we'll be fine.
Vikings run defense
- Kevin Smith and Rudi Johnson? Hahahahahahaha.
- We are going to shut down the Lions run game and they know it. They'll abandon it very early. The only hope they have is that they pass well enough to set up the run.
- I don't know what else to say here. We have run stoppers all over our D. They won't try heavy or two TE sets because that means taking WRs off the field, and all of their talent is at WR.
Vikings pass defense
- Henderson will be sorely missed, but not quite as much as people think. We shut down the run so well that we are often in nickle, and we can get away with Greenway and Leber on the field.
- Leber had a monster game on Monday Night.
- Also, you can't expose Herron by running up the middle because of the Williamses. So we might be ok w/o Henderson.
- I bring that up because their WRs will be doubled and it will be up to the LBs to shutdown the RB/TE safety valve.
- I don't know who the Lions are playing at QB, but they will probably look good, throwing 50 times and all. - Still some major questions about our secondary. I'm fine with Griffin, but the cover 2 works best when not getting beat deep and our safeties seem to often be in wonderland, not center field.
- Gordon also has played well. Marcus who?
- It will be interesting to see if we continue to put Winfield in the slot on nickle. To be honest, I haven't seen much of it this year. I thinks its a bad idea to leave Gordon 1v1 against Williams.
- Double both Williams and Johnson. Have Gordon take the slot. Have the LBs take the safety valves. Yes that does mean only rush 4.
- If Allen doesn't get two sacks in this game, the doubts start getting real.
Vikings ST
- Longwell is clutch.
- Our coverage teams suck and I doubt they get better. Sure it was not only Kluwe's fault, but he has to be able to kick OOB. Our coverage teams are so bad that we should consider doing agaisnt everyone, not just Buch and Hester.
- The merry-go-round at KR/PR will continue. It drives me nuts. PUT IN ALLISON. LEAVE HIM THERE.
Prediction:
Team
1
2
3
4
F
Vikings
3
7
14
14
38
Lions
7
3

20
The Lions come out to an early lead, but in the end we crush their hopes with and big 3rd quarter and don't look back."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Wow, reading that is depressing. I know it can be tough being a Vikes fan sometimes but it must really suck to be a Lions fan. I actually feel sorry for them. Is that wrong? Wait, I'll feel sorry for them after this Sunday.

Re: Official Vikings vs. Lions PreGame Thread
Some things I'd like to see happen in this game:
1.) A 300-yard game by Gus Frerotte.
2.) A 150+ rushing game by AD.
3.) 2+ sacks by Jared Allen.
4.) Improved ST play.
5.) A shutout.
Although when we win, I'm sure people will tear it down by saying: (in KFAN's "Doogie's" voice) - "But it's THE LIONS!"

Well, yes - but considering the way things have gone the past 3 yrs with the offense, I've come to not expect such things on a week-by-week basis."Ragnarok" wrote:

* Boobs at the tailgate.
They don't have to be PPO boobs, but we haven't been flashed ONCE
that I recall, and that includes the drunken bachelorette party next to us at the last Panther game.
* An appearance by Zygi at our tailgate.
His singing with PPO keyed a huge victory last year.
We need
another big win on Sunday - this guarantees it!
* A Pat Williams interception rumble for a TD.
And the accompanying seismograph readings from the U.
* 52 points from the Vikings offense.
* A post from CMacD after the offense scores 52 points where he praises the mind of The Big Chill.
* Boobs at the tailgate - I'm really serious about this one.
=Z=
Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
