OFFICIAL VIKES vs LIONS POSTGAME THREAD

This could be viewed as a poorly played game, but I liked it.
Mainly for the game adjustments we made to counter the Lions.
The pass protection was aweful, but got better.
We stepped-up on Defense and stopped the Lions.

    Hats off:
    AD
    Favre
    (2-27 and no turnovers)
    Allen
    Greenway
    Leber
    Edwards
    Chiller
    Longwell
    Harvin (little AD)
    Pass Rush

    Needs Improvement:
    TJ
    Pass Blocking
    Run Defense
    Loadholt
    Chester
    First half play

We are 2-0 and looking good.
We do not need 400 yds passing a game to win (wahhhh we needs passing yds to win).
We are efficient, we limit turnovers, and we make good decisions most of the time.
We did convert the fumble and 1 INT by the Lions into scores (a must if you want to win in this league).

    Very happy about this win.
    We will only get better.

The Lions blow ass...really bad ass!
That drive right before the 2 minute warning they were pathetic.
Penalties, missing wide open guys, dropped passes and then kicks a FG?
    WTF?
They deserve to lose every game again.

Re: OFFICIAL VIKES vs LIONS POSTGAME THREAD

This year is interesting. In the past 3 seasons we would come out and move the ball in the opening series and then stagnate. The second half often left us looking outcoached and the adjustments we made would look like we were a quarter behind the opponents.

This season we are starting slow but gaining momentum steadily as the game goes on. In the second half we are looking like the more prepared team and we pull away. That is good stuff.

Good game by the team. Not as dominating as I would have liked, but it was a win and we did put up decent numbers.

A win is a win. It's almost a mirror of last week. However, I am afraid what will happen when we play a team like the Steelers or Saints, who do not take their feet off the peddle. Our first half play may hurt us against a top teir team. Hopefully we clear this up.

Re: OFFICIAL VIKES vs LIONS POSTGAME THREAD

We have been lucky to not end up down bigger than we have been.
I do fear the day we're out of our game (forced to pass pass pass).
Ultimately, a smartly played game and I was happy with what we saw out of the guys today.

    Liked:
    Greenway
    Peterson
    Kevin
Favre: Well done; I bitched when you got sacked but in hindsight, you didn't throw it up.
Our WR/TE: Catching the balls thrown at them... lots of coverage sacks given up, but we caught what was thrown.
Harvin: Keep that up.... when on the field, you make a difference.

    Needs Improvement:
Need to see more from Jared; he's been non-existent till the 4th a few times now.
Also leaving wide open lanes after a strong rush. I love Allen but he has been invisible too often.
    Arm tackling needs to stop.
    They were the Lions.
No way fans should have gone in to half-time upset.... c'mon boys.

    Trust me, I'm a doctor.

We always seem to start the game out sloppy and disoriented. But then kick butt in the second half. We can't let that happen when we get to the better teams. Also, our freaking O-Line needs to BLOCK! Favre is 39! He cant be taking all them hits, he is going to get hurt!

Re: OFFICIAL VIKES vs LIONS POSTGAME THREAD

Again, not the prettiest game I've seen - I was looking for a more dominant performance - but I'll take the win.

    Defense needs to tighten up.
Detroit exploited our ends repeatedly with those outside runs.
We need to be able to stuff those and force them inside.
Greenway came up big twice which really saved our tails IMO.
And the fumble (forced by Edwards recovered by Greenway) was a nice dagger to stick into Detroits hopes.

Offensively, I'm still looking for a more active passing game.
I'd like to see a few deep shots - something we haven't done.
I'm not sure if it's not being called, or if our receivers just aren't getting seperation.
BUt I like the fact that the ball is being spread around, and a lot of guys are making good plays for us.

IMO, we started far too sloppy on both sides of the ball.
If we don't tighten up, some of the leagues better teams will eat our lunch.
San Fran isn't going to roll over and die for us (And as I write this, they are up 10-0 on Seattle), and even though Green Bay blows goats, neither will they.
Hopefully Chiller & company can prove my 3 years of calling for their heads wrong by getting this team ready to compete at the next level.

Once again the play calling screws the QB

Brett is a step ahead of Jackson but no QB will be amazing here

Ill take a 2 TD no pick game
