I've been saying for years, our issues start at the top, the very top. If Wilf insists on being involved in making football decisions, then he needs to make one. Fire Spielman, hire a GM. Hire real coordinators, and demand they put a good product on the field. That's their job, if they can't do it, somebody else needs to be the one to try.

I think the old fella is still kickin it down here in central Texas. He was out doing book signings recently for his latest memoir:
"Big Red: Memoirs of a Texas Entrepreneur and Philanthropist and How I Screwed the Good People of Minnesota".
I'm sure Big Red would be happy to give Zygi some advise on how to run an NFL franchise, just like Jerry helped Red.

"Over the last four years, John has contributed in countless ways to the Vikings organization," owner Zygi Wilf said. "He has been very active in the community along with being a key member along our offensive line. John is a bright young man and we are fortunate to have him in the Vikings organization."
Added team president Mark Wilf: "John embodies a true Minnesota Viking, on and off the field. He is a valuable member to our team and a key part of our future. This is a big moment for John and the Minnesota Vikings. We are very pleased a deal has been reached."

This team and organization is a joke right now.We have near zero talent on and off the field.
We may have the worst team on the entire league,OL and CB+S are the worst no doubt.
Team seems unprepared week in and out, does Frazier even have a gameplan? has he made any adjustment during a game or at half time?
Pagac is another joke and should be canned ,our Defense is embarrassing plain and simple. No talent ,no discipline,no gameplan,
On the offense you just cant run a team with a OL like ours, special mention to Loadholt this guy is just slower than last year and thats to say a lot and a penalty prone.
We should keep Harvin and maybe Jenkins on the wings ,the rest are not just NFL caliber players.
All in all ,we are pretty fucked up,every week seems clearer Frazier doesnt have a damn clue about preparing and running an NFL team.I understand we can lose games with a rookie Qb and a mediocre team but not like this.El underdog.

I haven't changed my opinion about the talent level, nor have I changed my opinion about what needs to be done to fix this mess.
I will offer up a couple of observations from other games yesterday.......
KC vs PUKERS
QB just off the streets that has no timing with WR's or a clue about checks. Puts up over 300 yards.
Bores offense look like shit. Rodgers was on the run all day. Why? DT's provided steady pressure up the middle and DE's did just enough to counter the outside edges.
End result, win by a team that has alot less talent than the Vikes.
Seahawks vs the Bores compared to Vikes vs Bores.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears - Box Score - October 16, 2011 - ESPN
Are you going to try to tell me that the Seahawks have a more talented team than the Vikes? Gimme a break. Their OL has 2 rooks, and is in a state of flux more than the Vikes. They have nobody's at WR (Williams went down again and Rice was out of the picture) and a discarded QB none of you guys said could play football at this level.
Look hard my friends. Even the players you guys agree have talent have regressed. When you see guys like Hutch confused about what he is supposed to do in this blocking scheme, how can you expect someone like Load to have it figured out?
In the end, it all comes down to coaching. Do the players know whats expected and have they been coached to do whats expected? After watching this team all year, I can tell you with all sincerity that the answer is No to both questions and it isn't becuase these guys don't have talent. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Our coaching staff is pretty pathetic. From Fraizer on down. Pagac is going to be replaced, and I think Mustgrave may have 2 games left. The no talent excuse can only be used so long. The coaches actually have to coach, and prepare the team to execute the plays. Yesterday every viking fan hung their head in shame. We couldnt even put an offense on the field to give our D a rest. Im betting Fraizer would have already been canned if the Wilfs didnt mind paying for 3 HCs. He has lost this team.

Frazier and his coaches should have been canned with Childress. Instead, Frazier is named head coach, and the Vikings retain the defensive coaches and defensive scheme that has been a failure.
The Vikings are lacking in players, to be sure, but the coaching schemes leave me head shaking. Musgrave has conjured up Childress with each and every series. From his run on first down only mentality, to his lackluster route schemes, and beyond to his trick plays that fool no one and do nothing but stop drives. How could Frazier bring in an OC any more like Childress. It is the same coaching style that failed here before, and Frazier learned nothing.
What were we to expect when Frazier announced that, as head coach, he wanted to concentrate on establishing the run on offense. When I heard that, I instantly became pessimistic about the Vikings future under Frazier as head coach. Perhaps his career ending injury in the Superbowl did not allow him to see what the WCO would bring to the NFL, and how establishing the run lays a Dodo bird egg in the NFL.
The Vikings had a poor set of young DBs and a few old guys with injuries at the end of last season. They did nothing to improve the players in that area. They did NOTHING! Did the front office or coaches actually believe these players were ready for the NFL? Did they believe in their failed Tampa 2 so much that they thought they could make a leap forward with this group of DBs? Do any players or fans believe any players are good enough to play in this system? The players will not drink the Kool-Aid. I would expect many of them to jump ship as soon as they could. Moss and McNabb wanted out, and not much has changed at Winter Park from Childress to Frazier.
Years of Childress keeping many of his late round draft picks on the roster have come back to haunt this team. Many of the players should have been cut long ago and replaced with quality players. In several drafts the Vikings have reached on day one picks and have even traded early draft picks to move up just to reach for a player that would likely have been on the board later. It was not much better under Mike Tice either. The 2005 draft will go down as the worst in Vikings history - not only for who they drafted but also for the players on the board they consistently overlooked to pick up their pet project players. Big egos by Spielman and Childress has left the team with below average players.
Childress is gone. Spielman should be. The questions here are if the Wilfs will fire him and if they would actually bring in a high caliber GM to replace him. With our luck, the Wilfs will bring in a Matt Millen type guy and ruin the Vikings for years to come.

LB'ers. Sorry, below average there as well.
WR'ers. Currently that is Aromashadu, Harvin, Camarillo, Stephen Burton and Joe Webb. Sorry, below average talent level there as well.
We are not overloaded with talent, nor have we been for a long time. What we do have is a few elite players that get a lot of media play and perhaps give some the impression of a team loaded with talent.
However, talent issue aside. Coaching is a bigger problem and I won't disagree with any of your disgust in that area. An even bigger problem as most on here appear to agree with is who puts this whole thing in motion, the FO.
My expectations of a grand turnaround will be very tempered until I see some competency at the top.
This makes the talent concern down the list a ways, but make no mistake, we are not loaded with talent. It's just not going to fix our problems by simply upgrading the talent pool.
