Re: Vikings should make offer to get Randy back!

I am a huge Moss Fan and still hope he breaks all the records, however, here are MY reasons we don't need Moss.

    a.
Brad can't/couldn't get it to him anyway.

    b.
He doesn't block MOST of the time.
    c.
We would have to give up a pick or two to get him.
New coach/new owner ship need these to keep developing the team
    d.
    He doesn't fit the system.

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I am a moss fan, but i dont think it would be worth the trouble.
I think even though there are a few players i wish the vikings still had, I am fine with the direction this team is heading.
With TJ hopefully next year, with troy getting better year by year, a great line in the making, a great D, we will all be saying moss who? and daunte what?
    in the next few years.
    You republican whore!

Re: Vikings should make offer to get Randy back!

    Pre-rant briefing:

    Caine = Moss fan
    Caine = Viking Fan
    Viking Fan > Moss fan
    Moss Trade = Bad
    Culpepper Trade = Good

    Everyone clear?

    [Begin rant]

Ok, being one who has ALWAYS opposed the Randy Moss trade, even I must finally say, "ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
    Randy is GONE!!!!
He isn't EVER going to come back!!!!
He didn't really get traded, you're Dad accidently ran him over with the truck when he was leaving for work, we just TOLD you he was traded to spare your feelings!!!
Now, quit your crying and finish mowing the lawn...

    [rant off]

Seriously, as bad as the Vikings passing game looks right now, let's keep our suggested solutions in the realm of the possible, alright? We had a great run with Randy on the team...but that run has come to a close.
    It's time to move on.

I'll be the first one to admit that trading Randy was a BAD move.
Of course, considering that our pillow biting former owner, Red "I have a Mongoose in my butt" McCombs made this trade on his way out, we KNEW it wasn't going to be beneficial to us.
He should have traded Culpepper instead.

    But, he didn't.

So, now that we are in year 2 of the "Post-Moss" era, it's time for all of us to look forward.
While we DO need a top flight receiver to give us a legitimate deep threat, it would be FAR better to either grab one in Free Agency next season, or draft one and hope he can catch (*looks pointedly at Troy Williamson*).
Any offer for Randy at this point would include too much future compensation to make it advisable.

Looking at our team, at which position are we so deep and so talented that we have disposable trade-bait lying around?
    Answer...NONE.
That means we have to offer draft picks...but we need those to build our team.

So, while Randy might provide a spark in the short term, in the LONG TERM, such a move would be HIGHLY detrimental - like the Herschal Walker deal.

Unless, of course, you're secretly a Raider's fan, and want us to send THEM to 3 Superbowls....

That is some complicated math. I want to read your post but the math problem at the top is too damn confusing, are you grading on a curve?

It's probably easier to understand if you look at his notes.

Re: Vikings should make offer to get Randy back!

Without reading the entire thread, here is my 2 cents worth.....

Is Moss worth a second round draft pick....
    I say yes....
As with all draft picks, you never know what you are going to get until they reach the field....
Moss is a proven NFL player....

    Does he fit THIS system?
Not sure about that....what I am sure about is that he is a player that EVERY defense MUST game plan around.
He must be taken seriously as a scoring threat, regardless of the system you are in....
If this is the case, than just having him on the field helps the team.
It would help the other receivers (see what GLENN is doing in Dallas with TO on the other side)
It would help the running game because they couldnt/wouldnt stack the box.

Can the MOSS attitude be realed in??
This is a great unknown, however, after spending a couple years in purgatory (Oakland) I bet he would have a different apprieciation for the Game and this NEW ORGANIZATION.
I believe that bridges were not burnt with this organization.
The folks that Moss might have issue with are long gone.
I think Moss would love a chance to play again in front of the fans that love him!

Dont think it will ever happen....but would be in favor of it if it did!
Bring him back while his jersey still fits!
    ;D
I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

He sure didnt change the defenses facing the Raiders. If he did then it wasn't enough to do a damn. Which says to me who cares.

    Sorry, Del.
You need to read the entire question before answering.
    The answer is NOT 2.

Let me explain this to you.

    Caine = Moss fan
    Caine = Viking Fan

Since we know that Caine is always right (The second rule of PP.O math...the first is "Webby is always right"), we also know that these two are right.
It's ok to be a Moss fan AND a Viking fan.

    Viking Fan > Moss fan

Being a Viking fan is more important than being a Moss fan.

    Moss Trade = Bad
    Culpepper Trade = Good

This signifies that Moss made Culpepper, so the issue of Culpepper's trade should never be mentioned again in a negative light.

Therefore, obviously, the correct answer is 5.

I would have also accepted "Culpepper sucks" or "UltraVikingFan loves Brett Favre".

    Class dismissed.

    Caine
