well we still have more rounds to go and I'm expecting the OL and DL to be addressed in those, so you may well get your wishes yet.

Not thrilled at this pick at all. In the first round he would have been a reach but at the #12 spot.. WOW.. massive massive reach.

The best available player on the board at that time for me was Nick Fairley, and DT is a position we could have done with filling, the fact we let him slip to the Lions who now have two very good DT's also doesn't sit well with me.

That said I will back Ponder, get behind him and give him a fair crack here and hope for the best. B)

West Coast Offence. I guess that is what we are going with now. Personally, I would rather draft players to fit into our scheme rather than draft a player to make a system around him. However, with our crap oline, 3 to 5 step drops is all the time he is going to have back there.

I do not care where they take a player if he is your player. If Ponder was the first QB on our board, then so be it. The coaching staff likes him for some reason and that is who we are going with. The next 5 years of this team will be tied to this draft pick. If he bust, the team moves to LA. If he is good, we get a new stadium.

Start him week 1? Probably not. Regardless of if he starts or not, he will play this year. Which means we will not be in the playoffs. Get ready for another 6-10 season. Just another year we have to be patient and say there is always next year. With a pick like this lets hope the light at the end of the tunnel is coming sooner.

Again, if he is the guy, then he is the guy. We need a quarterback and here he is.

With a need at DE and DT, I can not believe we passed on Fairley and Quinn! This guy could have been picked up in the second round and if not, then we could have gone the Free agent route. This team is built around AD, and tough Defense, and a qb who can manage the game. We are letting our D get long in the tooth.

Fraid I don't agree that he would be there in the second round. Our need for a QB wasn't the best kept secret in the world and I suspect he would go before the likes of Mallet etc. We do have a need at DT for sure so I'm hoping to see that addressed in the second round.

Maybe Favre will come back for one more year so Ponder can learn a little and not get thrown into the fire. Sitting behind Favre for at least a year could be the answer and make the difference between success and failure for Ponder.
    That's not funny

You didn't already know that? it's been obvious and out there for months. T-Jack has zero interest in playing for the Vikings as well..zero.
LOL at Tjack being selective about where he plays. He should be lucky to get a tryout on a flag football team.

Could have been there, but may not have been? No one knows for sure. In my mind an early number one pick needs to be an impact player, not an injury risk. Bleacher report has this guy going somewhere in the 2-4 rounds. You are right, he may not have been there in the second round, but I believe we are wrong for settling on a guy when two impact defensive linemen are staring at you. Now we have to see Fairley twice a year in our own division.

All over the radio down here how stupid the Deadskins were to move down and take the risk of missing out on him.

Course they follow-on question most are asking is why didn't they then take Dalton or even Mallet Head for that matter. Seems alot of us yutz fans had him a bit higher rated than Locker and Ponder.
+1 even us fans get it wrong sometimes :P
Locker had me blind. I didn't really put much work into Ponder cause I thought his release was to "lazy". Come to find out, it was that way cause he was playing with a bumb arm.

Obviously that means he is a tough guy and fits the scheme to a T, that is if you like the dink dunk 22 set scheme we were running under the last staff.
I've no doubt that he was picked to fit in with Musgrave's planning but I also expect him to do more than just dink and dunk.
Hard to say. From everything I've read and listened to today, he can get it deep but it isn't his strong suite.

More of a short thrower that excells with his ball skills (i.e. ball fakes) who moves around pretty good.

I look to see AD and Shanc fall in love with the guy, quicky followed by PH and Rice if we can resign him.

OL will love how he can move around and get rid of the ball quickly as well.

Doesn't mean he won't take deep shots. Its part of the scheme, its just not gonna be the 3 deep kindof approach.

McShay was saying that Quinn won't last through his first contract. A team is gonna take him but not probably at the level that his skill set matches.

In the end, someone will get a good player for 2 or 3 years. Not worth the price of a 1rst and possibly a second IMHO.

You know me, I hate to see rooks on the field.

In this instance, however, I think he will start and probaby should start. IMHO, other than how well he fits the scheme, he should be able to atleast be effective right away.

Doesn't mean he won't have issues, I just think he will be good enough and by the end of the season, alot of folks, me included, will be suprised we didn't look at him in this light.

Again, I liked him but thought his throwing motion was bad, instead, we find out he was just playing hurt.

That was Childress' mail goal from day 1. In 6 years he failed miserably at his #1 goal.
    How so?

Ground game was fine with CT and got better with AD as they added pieces. Was good enough to win back to back division titles pre noodle and then got to the NFFC championship game.

Do some research on that last game by the way. In the end, when the starters are in there the OL is effective.

Young Ponder, behind our starters will be fine and our OL will love him.
