Not sure why you think that Favre is a bigger problem than receivers."jargomcfargo" wrote:
+1Simple. First half offense tried to be something they weren't. It didn't work.
Second half they went back to what they are; a physical running team.
Special teams need more work.
Pass blocking and Sullivan need more work.
Favre and receivers, especially Favre, needs more work.
Percy Harvin is better than I expected.
Defense was pretty good on a hot day.
They will all get better as the season progresses.
Game ball definitely has got to go to AD. 180 yards, 3 TD's.
Loved the last one particularly. It also seems, so far at least, that his offseason work trying to improve his pass catching skills, seems to be paying off.
I saw a lot of passes dropped with some pretty good throws.

Favre did some good things today, and I'm optomistic about his potential on this team.
But he came in late and will take some time to be on the same page as his receivers.
Watch out when he and the receivers mesh. It should be a beautiful thing.
Pass blocking I still believe is our biggest concern. Glad to see more people are finally starting to agree that there is an issue there & it's not with the QB.
Also 110 yards passing & expecting AD to carry us week in & week out isn't going to work every week. I hope they can improve both the pass blocking & we start seeing receivers getting open more quickly.

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
I thought typical vikes for the first half...but i am so excited to see them come out and then dominate a team they should of!
I think the team wasn't quite there for the first half and with farve coming in so late we had to expect that but the more they played the better it got.
Its good that the vikes have a somewhat soft schedule to start for the first couple games.
They will build on timing and such and should come out of the first 4 games on fire.
Percy looks like a true number 1 receiver...and once berrian get totally healthy they could be dangerous.
The play calling in the first half seemed too conservative but i think with more reps we will see more 20 to 30 yrd passes because AD put up huge numbers again.
They look so dangerous if everyone gets on the same page.
first half =D
second half+ B
keep the improvment going and the vikes have a shot at the big show!Lets go fishing

The Vikings won while Childress continues to show his inability to coach an efficient, creative offense.

That's the definition of efficient when you look at the yards they accumulated.

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
First half play-calling was vintage Childo...awful.
I'll give him some credit though: we should have won that first fumble challenge, and the second challenge was huge at the time.
110 yards passing is not good.
You could really tell that the chemistry is not close with Favre and his receivers.
As another poster said, it's a good thing we start with a soft schedule.
Second half showed glimpses of why we should be excited about this season.
Favre didn't force passes when we were ahead and started to connect with Harvin.
AD opened up his can and let the Browns have it.
The defense was dominant.
I can't remember a Vikings team playing the pass that well in a long time, and that was even when Quinn had tons of time.
Overall I'd give the game a B.Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
Overall, I was very happy with almost every aspect of the game. I didn't think Favre impressed, but he didn't disappoint either. Percy Harvin looked like the real deal, which in my opinion had a lot to do with Wade getting cut. Defense looked iffy... we just couldn't seem to get to the QB. But again, overall they were OK.
I know I sound like a broken record, but our biggest issue was coaching, at least in the first half. Once again, Childress lacks a basic understanding of clock management. We got the ball with 2:23 left in the second quarter, only to give it back to the browns with around 2:00 left... and what happened? Oh, that's right... we punted it to one of the best returners in the NFL. I'm guessing Childress is going to blame Kluwe again, although it was just awful clock management. Run the ball, run the clock down. I honestly feel like a HS coach would be better than Childress sometimes.
Peterson's 64 yard run was incredible, he just forced his way through tackles. Awesome to see. He has 3 TD's this season so far... while his season total last year was 10. Should be a fun year to watch.
Super excited to see Harvin play as well. He did a great job of being the role-player we needed. Great to see him get his first career TD. Our offense looks pretty sick.
Anyways, glad it's finally football season. Skol.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
I'm impressed with Quinn.
He scrambled and threw on the run, like a star.
Escaped at least 6 stacks like a star, without thinking he should run the ball.
I think he will do great!
Nice outing for Favre, didn't throw long, but I could care less.
He was able to stretch drives.
The EZ throw was ugly, but they shouldn't have been in that situation.
AP should have just cut it up instead of drawing it out.
Regardless, take away the ST TD, the Vikes looked good, although the Vikes gave up too much yardage.

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
overall it was a pretty good game. like the other members said, 110 yards will hurt us and we can not allow AP to carry us on his shoulders week in and week out. But i think that will change with more chemistry and more playing time.
AP is a stud!!
