+1Simple. First half offense tried to be something they weren't. It didn't work.
Second half they went back to what they are; a physical running team.
Special teams need more work.
Pass blocking and Sullivan need more work.
Favre and receivers, especially Favre, needs more work.
Percy Harvin is better than I expected.
Defense was pretty good on a hot day.
They will all get better as the season progresses.
Game ball definitely has got to go to AD. 180 yards, 3 TD's.
Loved the last one particularly. It also seems, so far at least, that his offseason work trying to improve his pass catching skills, seems to be paying off.

Not sure why you think that Favre is a bigger problem than receivers."jargomcfargo" wrote:

I saw a lot of passes dropped with some pretty good throws.

Favre did some good things today, and I'm optomistic about his potential on this team.
But he came in late and will take some time to be on the same page as his receivers.
Watch out when he and the receivers mesh. It should be a beautiful thing.“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
I'm actually a Packers fan but when Favre came to your team, you guys immediately became my 2nd favorite team.
Thoughts after watching the game:
1) AP is the best player in the NFL (unless Brady can prove me wrong).
2) The crap Favre pulled before the season started actually hurt him.
There was a lot of miscommunication, and Favre almost got intercepted because of it.
This should be fixed as the season goes on.
3) Your D looked really solid, but...
4) Your ST needs work
This should be an interesting season.
It's going to be Vikings vs Packers for the NFC North title, and I'm pretty sure both teams make the Playoffs this year.
Not at all scared of da Bears.
By the way, that 3rd AP TD run was tremendous.
He's got burst, moves, and strength.
I laughed when he threw the defender off with his arm.
I'm also glad it looks like you'll be bringing in TJ to finish games.
If you limit Favre's throws, he should be good for the season + Playoffs.
He was looking like an MVP contender last year until his arm went out.

Re: Official Browns vs Vikings Postgame Thread
The first half seemed like a typical Vikings Game.
Playing down to your opponents level.
I liked the run by
Harvin, & the catch that he almost got in but ultimately led to one of AP's TD's.
The second half the Vikes looked like the evolved team we expected.
They marched down the field at will.
I couldn't help but smile at the way Favre congratulated Harvin on his first NFL touchdown.
That is excitement that cannot be faked.
They still have some issues to work out, (pass blocking) but all in all, what started as another nail biter turned into a dominating win. (and when you play the Brown's, you are expected to dominate.)
SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing I liked most was Favre wasn't out there trying to be the center of the universe.
He lead, encouraged, (it was fun to watch him in the huddle) and didn't turn the ball over or force things.
That's my biggest fear with Favre.

You Knocked Mac but not Sully. Sully was getting blown up...not beaten...but Blownnnnnup on almost every play. Shaun ineedahamburger Rogers is talented but he is not that good. The Birk move was a mistake and it will cost us because their are a shit load of talented DTs on the schedule this season. Not a perfect game by any means, but I'm happy with the win.
Liked seeing Favre step up and jump start the offense with that pass to Rice (that got flagged for interference but lead to a TD).
Loved Peterson destroying the Browns...especially when he threw the guy away from him.
Thought the line was servicable, but needed work on the Left side.
Not thrilled with McKinnie...but I haven't been for about 4 years.
Nothing new there.
Think the receivers need to get open.
All in all, we looked rusty but good.
I hope we continue to knock the rust off and can dominate Detroit next week.

Pass blocking I still believe is our biggest concern. Glad to see more people are finally starting to agree that there is an issue there & it's not with the QB.
Also 110 yards passing & expecting AD to carry us week in & week out isn't going to work every week. I hope they can improve both the pass blocking & we start seeing receivers getting open more quickly.
