Offense better with no stud WR?
OK this may sound off the wall but think of it this way. When Chidress was OC in Philly he had no real "stud" WR. Then Owens came. Did some great things got hurt came back became a major headache and caused alot of problems on the team. Childress was able to find success up until last year with just avg to above avg WR. Mayeb this offense will do better with WR's that are just avg and not have that one Stud WR
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
You know,
I was thinking about that the other day.
You take a team and get guys that contribute across the board with no big egos to get in the way.
Our D during the preseason had a bunch of take aways and wouldn't you know it was evenly spread out over a large number of people.
IMO this is sort of how the Patsies keep on winning.
The only nice thing about a guy with a reputation as a star is the coverage that he demands freeing up others to perform.
I think that our receivers are not going to shock the league this year, but our team will.
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
I agree.
We will not blow anyone away but I think we be able to move the chains, slowly yes; but we will move them.
If chester can become a true threat, then BJ will have an easy job.
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
We STILL have got to have Chester Taylor step up and perform...otherwise our non-superstar WR corps will be keyed on and shut down.
Gotta have an effective running game to keep our defense off of the field so that they can stay fresh into the fourth quarter...otherwise we will lose a ton of really close games!
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
Ummm, I remember when we had a stud reciever, and had a Top 5 offense for 7 years straight, but I guess we have a new system now, but whatever....
I still want Moss back.

NO Super Bowls though...so screw the stud WR thing and give me a STUD RB and a STUD DEFENSE...that is what wins Super Bowls!!!

Wait, if they key in on our receivers, there'll be more holes for Taylor. If they crack down on the LoS, then our receivers will be freed up. Either way, one or the other aspect will be able to shine, and it'll probably go back and forth from game to game. It's not like Taylor CAN'T run, he just isn't getting those holes for the big runs. He IS in the NFL for a reason, stop acting like he's a two-legged dog. I'm not worried about our offense. The only thing I worry about is depth/injury.

Teams & good coaching win superbowls, not a stud player. He only contributes like everyone else.
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
I think that an offense is better when they have a stud reciever. They demand attention on every play from the defense. Which helps the running game. Also it can help get other recievers open since you have d backs looking out for the stud all the time. Plus he is a stud so he will make plays as well!
Re: Offense better with no stud WR?
only thing difference from that eagles offensive is:
mcnabb > BJ
westbrook > taylor
and i think we need to use our TEs a little more than the eagles did as well as run a little more. about 55-45 pass-run ratio.
