O. Smith will not be reinstated?
Vikings | O. Smith will not be reinstated?
Tue, 25 Apr 2006 18:20:13 -0700
Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports according to a source close to Minnesota Vikings RB Onterrio Smith, the Vikings running back will not be reinstated by the NFL next month. Smith was suspended by the NFL last May. The Vikings and the NFL declined comment. "That falls under the confidentiality provisions of the program," league spokesman Greg Aiello said. "His status is unchanged in that he continues to be under suspension." The Vikings weren't counting on Smith, but owner Zygi Wilf said earlier this month that the team was open to giving the running back a chance to return. The Vikings could address the position in this weekend's NFL Draft.

well this sucks.
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
We'll just have to see.....he was a good runningback...but we will see what directtion this team goes draft day....We will see which positions the coaching staff feels are greatly needed, and which ones not soo much..! I think after the draft, we will have a more clear position of onterrio's fate...!
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
Hmmm, wish they got into more why he might not be reinstated
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
That's odd. He must have done something wrong again, I don't know why else they wouldn't reinstate him.

Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
This is strange!
Does the NFL have the option of not reinstating if they do not want to?
Did he failed another drug test?
Or did he do something else that would keep them from reinstating him?
Or was there something in his past that they are using to keep him out of the NFL?
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
Is it possible they didn't tell us everything when he got busted with the wizzinator?
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
i would be surprised if he isn't reinstated. however, even though he does have potential, i can't say that i care if he's not. the guy did some of the dumbest things i've ever seen a professional athlete do. if he truly loved football and appreciated it, he would've stopped messing around with drugs. i'm all for giving rehabilitated people a second chance, but i think his situation is a little different than someone like Robinson's, who had a genuine drinking problem. with that said, if he comes back a new man, i'll be happy for him and the team.
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
he's still going to play for us ! his suspension does'nt end until MAY, that will be 1 full year
Re: O. Smith will not be reinstated?
I wasn't counting on him to come back anyway.
