    O-line breakdown vs Detroit.

I got sick of people pulling stuff out of their assholes, so, I looked at nfl.com to see what happened.
    Here's the quick summary.

    AP
    Left: 11-44 yds (4 yds/carry)
    Middle: 2-9 (4.5 yds/carry)
    Right: 7-13 (<2 yds/carry)

    MeMo
    Left: 2-7 (3.5 yds/carry)
    Middle: 3-34 (11+ yds/carry)
    Right: 1-9 (9 yds/carry)

    TJack
    Left: 0-0
    Middle: 2-13 (6.5 yds/carry)
    Right: 3-3 (1 yd/carry)

It appears Birk won that battle in yds/carry average.

The bullshit card is thrown on more running plays to the right.
    The left wins.

    Running plays:

    Left: 13
    Middle: 7
    Right: 11

Looks fairly evenly distributed to me.

    Penalties on o-line:

    Birk: holding
    Cook: 2 holding
    Mount: false start
    Hutch: false start

    Just some food for thought.

Just the facts please. I wonder how many blitzes Detroit threw at us. A lot of 8 man fronts and zone blitzing really disrupted us.

    Just a couple of things...

First, Cook had 1 holding penalty and 1 false start penalty (nfl.com).

Second, the nfl.com page only cites runs to the tackle and to the end.
It doesn't specificy which runs were Right-middle and which ones were Left-middle.
Which is a pretty difference considering on the one side is Steve Hutchinson and on the other is Artis Hicks.

And even so, the numbers should be skewed way more to the left than evenly distributed.
When it s all said and done, you ll have to admit we re number 1!

Did this in haste, so got Cook down as two penalties.

Yes, it doesn't differentiate the exact hole they ran through....but, the whole point is that people are saying stuff like it's crazy that they ran to the right all the time when we have such a strong left side.
The information is solid enough to prove that as a complete bullshit statement.

Why should they be skewed so much to the left?
Then people would be complaining that it is too predictable.

The argument, which isn't included in this thread title, is the distribution of running to passing plays.

Great post!! Appears the middle of the line is the strongest, might say something about the Mount. I think we know Cook is still a project. Maybe Hicks isn't as bad (at least on the run) as people make him out to.

I count 7 runs up the middle, not 11.

    Proofreading is your friend.
    I'll try that next time.
I corrected it in the original post.

The main reason I even looked was because of the folks talking about runs to the right vs runs to the left.

    Re: O-line breakdown vs Detroit.

By left and right do they mean outside the tackle?

And by middle do they mean anything inside the tackles? If so...... that's stupid.

    <-----------------TE 5 OT 3 OG 1 C 2 RG 4 RT 6 TE 8-------------------->

The numbers are the holes for those of you who don't know.

So if left means 5 hole and beyond, and right means 6 hole and beyond, we Have a lot of middle unspecified.
