No compensation picks granted implies success in free agency

The following list of 16 teams which were rewarded compensatory picks were deemed to have lost out in the free agency exchange of players out-and-in, last year.
The implication by ruling of league officials is that they did not recoup value equal to or greater than the player value they lost to other teams in free agency.

Since the Vikings do not appear on this list of 16 teams, THUS FAR, it can safely be assumed that the exchange of players in the 2006 free agency period was a net gain in talent for the Vikings, or, possibly, a zero net gain of talent.

    Wow,

Eye opener isn't it, especially when you run down the teams.
Most of the ones that ran amuck spending wildly on the outstanding FA that were out there.

    HMMMMMM
Causes one to think doesn't it (or not)
    ;D

I hate these compensation picks. The Colts get another 3rd rounder? Yeah, I guess they were hurt pretty bad. They shouldn't have even showed up this year, they were so friggin bad.

New England has signed every wide receiver available in free agency and they get 4 picks

    1 5th round
    2 6th round
    1 7th round

Atlanta gets a 4th round pick and a 7th round?

Chargers get a 3rd and 5th round pick?

Colts the team that won the superbowl gets a 3rd, 4th and 5th round pick!

San Fran gets 3rd and 4th round pick.

And we lost Wiggy, Smoot, Travis Taylor, Bethel Johnson and Napo and we don't get a single pick?
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

First off, these picks are based upon the 2006 Free Agency period.

    http://nfl.com/draft/story/10091294

So, the Vikings lost Nate Burleson, Lance Johnston, Brian Williams and gained Chester Taylor, Tony Richardson, Ben Leber and some monster named Steve Hutchinson.

Second off - I don't think cutting players gives teams any right to compensation, so the "loss" of Wiggins and Smoot doesn't add up to squat, since their contracts were terminated.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Someone correct me if I am wrong (why do I feel there is a need to ask for what will surely occur without my requesting it?
;D ), but these 2007 draft compensation picks are based on LAST YEAR's free agency exchanges' net value gain or loss.

Re: No compensation picks granted implies success in free agency

The compensation picks are handed out for LAST YEARS free agency period.
Its easy to understand why we wouldn't get any since we signed quite a few FA's.
If you deem success as us getting more than we lost, then yes we were successful.
I would consider our FA period last year pretty successful.
We got Hutch, longwell, chester and ben leber who were all starters for our team.
Now as far as our team being successful?? :

Three consecutive posts saying the same thing in response to a question about the compensation basis.

And the winner for reply timeliness is...... Zeus.
