    Nice read on the Vikes

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/don_banks/08/18/vikings/index.html

A lot of the same old, same old but some new slants and ideas from SI.

That was a real good read.. I agree with most of it, but the one thing I disagree on is that the Vikes need a legitimate #1 WR in order to succeed..

The Eagles got to the NFC title game three years in a row ('01-'03) without having a legitimate No. 1 receiver, and they still wish they hadn't deviated from that approach and signed the play-making Owens in '04, even if he did get them over the hump and into the Super Bowl that season.

Am I alone in feeling confused by all these dumb statements by sportswriters.

How did T.O. help the Eagles over the hump when he didn't play a down in the playoffs?
The Eagles made it to the NFC Championship games WITHOUT T.O. every year.

How did T.O. help them get to the Super Bowl?
By playing in some regular season games & not playing in the playoffs when it counted . . . I am confused.

Yeahhh. Last time i checked, the Iggles made the championship without TO, and made it without him to the SB. Agreeing with you, and TO didn't seem to help a lot in the Super Bowl, did he? He had a great game, especially coming off of an injury, but they didn't QUITE win. We definately need a big star like that as our #1 WR :
WELL, I LL ASK HIM, BUT I DON T THINK HE WILL BE VERY KEEN. UH, HE S ALREADY GOT ONE, YOU SEE.
