We don't need breakway speed, that's why we got rid of Michael Bennett. We just need a guy who can average at least 4 ypc and 20 carries per game. I'm pretty sure Chester can do that. The biggest question is can he handle the workload, because he never carried the ball that much in Baltimore. I look to what happened with Priest Holmes when he left Baltimore for Kansas City, that makes me hopeful."SharperVikings" wrote:
I think Chestor Taylor will suprise some people this season, but I didn't know he had great speed.According to ESPN's NFL Live, I was watching, They predicted that Chestor Taylor would be a break out back, along with stephen jackson...But the more importand is Taylor. They were saying that he fits well into our offense, has great speed and can cut very very well...! They said he never got a fair chance in baltimore, so he should break out here!
I personally am very excited for this, and I have thought this...
Just thought I'd give ya a heads up..!
lol
From what I've heard he's great at breaking tackles and has good vision.
But I don't think he has that break away speed. sad
Our offense, both strategy wise and talent wise, is so much different from two years ago that I'm kind of nervous. No longer can we pass at will, We MUST rely on a strong ground game to open up the pass. If Taylor cannot do his job, the whole offense will suffer mightily."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Re: NFL LIVE -- Taylor to be a breakout
Chester will be a very good back running behind that line, no he does not have breakaway speed but his vision, hands, and blocking should make him a VERY good pickup

Re: NFL LIVE -- Taylor to be a breakout
Yeah ive always loved the Chestor Taylor pickup. Never had any doubts even though we didnt get edge or Lewis, Taylor is just as good imo. He will have a great season. Cant wait!

I love the Taylor and Hutchenson pick up. For the first time in years we will actually have a menacing pass and run game plan.
Ned you are so right teams will fear us and fear us soon.

Re: NFL LIVE -- Taylor to be a breakout
Being stuck here between Baltimore and DC, I had plenty of opportunities to see Taylor in action - especially since Jamal was having an off year (griping about his contract situation, etc.). I know plenty of Ravens fans that preferred seeing Taylor get the touches over Jamal.
I'm thinking that getting out from Jamal's shadow and behind the line we've built, he should have a fine year.

Re: NFL LIVE -- Taylor to be a breakout
Not to be a smart ass, but I didn't have to have NFL Live to tell me that.
I have been super happy since we aquired CT.
I always had a ton of respect for CT when he was in Baltimore, and with the guys we have on our line, I think that we are going to see something special.
As long as everyone stays healthy.

Rick Speilman praised us for our entire offseason effort today and while I like that I have to wonder if this ex GM is trying to butter us up and get our open job that we kicked Foley out of and get him off of NFL Live.

Richardson is what happened to Priest Holmes for one thing.
With Birk healthy,Hutchinson and Richardson aquired, Taylor may look like our best off season move by the end of the season.
Just imagine the Vikings with a running game again.
They would be hard to beat.“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
