Re: New Stadium
I think its dumb to assume you get a raise every year no matter where you work. I know very few people that get raises every year, and the ones that do are in very successful and growing buisnesses. I can also find people that make the same amount of money today that they did back in the 70's. Heck before I got laid off in dec, over the last 5 years all I have received if pay cuts like everyone else in the company. At your job you get raises state employyes have took awage freeze for 2 years.
I still think the casino plan is the best way of funding a new stadium without a tax hike. Sure it will take money away from other casinos in the state but it will not bankrupt them. Also this helps the majority of the population by not taxing them and hurts a small minority because there overall profits might drop 10%. Too bad this country has turned into serving the needs of the wealthy and the corperations and the majority means nothing anymore.

I also read they were discussing lease escape clauses and cost of breaking the lease. Tagliabue was checking what he has been told. He is assessing the size of the carrot and stick needed. He also has a plan B, a plan C and a plan D.Well, I've read and heard that Mr. Tagliabue is in MN to help with the new stadium.
If the legislature doesn't want to build a stadium and the Fowler deal falls through then Red should put the team on E-bay and get the best deal he can.

Re: New Stadium
I say raise all sales tax in MN to 11% and use a majority of it to build a monster, state of the art stadium so when i come back to MN from FL, I can really enjoy a good game.

Re: New Stadium
People got mad at the drink tax for the Metrodome which was built in the early 80's for less than 60 million. 25 years later a stadium will cost over 600 million and instead of HHH could be 3M stadium. A stadium that would not include the Twins and the Gophers and be empty over 330 days of the year costing money instead of making money.
Personal Seat licenses, $25 beers, $10 hotdogs. Only corporate executives go to games because the cost is written off on expense accounts.
Red has to have a good year or 2 on the field then put the stadium up for a vote the people(insert group noun)to pay for it.
If Red really loved the fans(his customers) he could put the Vikings up for collateral on a $625 million loan to build the stadium and write off depreciation business losses etc. Politicians would let him not pay property tax. Everyone wins but Red doesn't win enough.
