Re: New Stadium
Hey fellas,
New to the board, here is my suggestion.
I was in Atlanta for the last month & I do not understand why Minnesota doesn't do this.
Part of the solution to help build a stadium would to start toll roads.
And I don't mean in the cities, but on borders.
We have a ton of out of state people that work in Minnesota, ( IE: Hudson/Stillwater ) so charge them.
50 cents one way, would equal about $400 per person a year.
What do you guys think?

Re: New Stadium
A new Minnesota Stadium will not happen until the legislature is scared of the Vikings moving. How will the voters react to the Vikings leaving Minnesota. Well I don't think the politicians think the issue is on the minds of the voters.
Whoever started this thread with the missing vowel can use the edit button to correct the spelling mistakes. If they are recognized.
LA Vikings stickers might get the legislature to do somthing. I would like to see the Vikings here on the west coast but most of you probably don't.

Re: New Stadium
Well if the Vikings do move, my interest in the NFL will go to almost zero, it will be like the NHL after the North Stars left. The only time i did watch the NHL was in the playoffs. Well i guess i'll just have to put up with a average gophers football team soon. Minnesota will become a more populated Iowa soon.

Re: New Stadium
The Vikings want a new stadium, the Gophers want an on campus stadium, the Twins want a new stadium. I say pass bonding issues and build each of the stadiums. Sell corporate naming rights to help off set some of the costs. Once all the teams are out of the Dome, tear the dam thing down and build, or remodel it into, the largest state owned and operated casino it that space, with NO TIES TO NATIVE INDIANS! The casino can earn the state over $600 million a year, which could pay for all the stadiums in about 10 years. Plus, with it in the middle of downtown Minneapolis, it will probably double the convention business in the first 5 years its open. It will bring a huge increase in the hotel tax base the city and state recieve each year, plus it will add much needed funding to the state which could be dedicated to things such as education, highway projects, light rail developement, natural resources managment, and many other things including of course, tourism.
The harsh reality is that the Minnesota State Democratic party will fight that idea to the end because they are owned and operated by the Native American Indian casinos, and don't want to loose all that financial aid they recieve from them.Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to slide into it broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming at the top of your lungs......

that idea went south when TCF agreed to give the gophers 35 million to build one on campus and call it TCF stadium.

Re: New Stadium
Everyone else in the division was able to upgrade stadium or get a new one. Surely Minnesota is not in the financial shape Detroit is in.
